I still think it early. Saw a young 6 chasing doe yesterday. Haven't seen road kills so I don't think the rut has occurred. At least hope not.

Had one run across 130 near Elroy yesterday at about 4:30 PM. He was running at an angle to the highway and my immediate thought at 80 MPH was that I could make no evasive maneuvers - just run over him. He ran just behind me and in front of another group of cars.

We had some mature bucks chasing does hard this past weekend, but it seemed like we were right at the beginning of everything kicking up.
I think we're about to see some good rut action all this week and into the weekend of the 21st.

getting geared up in Bosque county. literally no action on Saturday and then on Sunday morning i saw 4 different bucks chasing does.
had heard from several folks that its been about 2 weeks earlier this year........proves true here as it usually hits on thanksgiving.

Thanks. I had him drastically underjudged due to his body size. My dad had him quartered by the time I saw him. Woulda liked to have gotten full body pics but thats a five gallon bucket that his head is dwarfing. Biggest deer Ive ever seen around here.Ashes4Trees said:

The antler restriction has been so good for that area. Gives you a chance to see some nice deer at least.

It appeared to be underway in Montgomery County last weekend.
Rut was underway in Hamilton County opening weekend. I killed a nice 11 point that I saw chasing doe hard both Saturday and Sunday.
Rut was not underway in Gillespie County on opening weekend, which is a change. They are usually going all out. Think it's prob starting now. Will observe again on T+1.

Believe we are entering post rut in Fayette county. New bucks hitting the feeders. Including this old warrior with a broken main beam. Don't know if I've seen an older buck on any of my cams before. Massive body
