I had a completely random dream last night that my two dogs (lab and German Shepherd) got in a fight with an otter and got their butts kicked.
It was so vivid, I woke up and researched otters to find out how tough they are. Turns out, they're pretty tough, which maybe shouldn't be surprising given that they are cousins of wolverines, badgers and weasels.
But that led me to discover the existence of the Otterhound, and now I sort of want one.
Quote:
Big, boisterous, and affectionate, the Otterhound was bred in medieval England for the now-outlawed activity of otter hunting. This scarce breed is known for his dense shaggy coat, webbed feet, acute sense of smell, and affinity for swimming.
Quote:
To be equal to the otter, an Otterhound was said to need "a Bulldog's courage, a Newfoundland's strength in water, a Pointer's nose, a Retriever's sagacity, the stamina of a Foxhound, the patience of a Beagle, and the intelligence of a Collie".
