I would recommend staying away from an inflatable sleeping pad in cold weather. The air inside them will get cold and chill you from below.

This isn't accurate. The highest R Value and warmest pads are inflatable.

Yep. The down air mats are some of the warmest.

To expand: this used to be correct, but is now outdated. Cheap pads still suck in the cold. However, technology and designs have improved. As the posters above me said, check the R value. You can find several inflatable pads that insulate well.
