My kids got to keep a puppy for Christmas last year.

Had fun tonight. We got this puppy for Christmas last year. She shares a grandparent with BB so they are all cousins. Her name is Oreo.




Tonight when we cut the pups loose a little she was all over it. Learning how to be a mom.

How do the parents react when you remove a puppy from the litter? Does their behavior change for a short time? Is there a process breeders go through to gradually separate the puppies. I was just curious after watching the last video. Thanks.

When they are little, as in the first three weeks or so, BB has a fit when she realizes a puppy is missing. If we pull a ten day old puppy out and hide it she will eventually realize it and tear the house down trying to find it. She also won't let the other dogs too close to them.

Right now she is entering the 50/50 stage. She is still protective but will allow them to be bathed, played with, etc. without much complaining, though she still pays attention. That video above is the first time she has allowed another dog access, and you can see she is a little weary of that.

After she weens them, so at about six weeks, if you show up in the driveway she will meet you at your car door, hand you a beer, and offer a two for one special on puppies. Time for them to go.

The bigger fatter ones, including the two males we have left will both be 70+ pounds and look like their father.


The smaller ones will be 50 pounds and look like their mother.

Lol, nah I couldn't keep him out of the stuff. He kept running around in it and wanted out all day unlike my other 2 dogs.
