Where can one get a decent gas can? I have a little 19' sailboat with a 2.5hp suzuki on it. I use it just to get in and out of the cove but it doesn't hold much gas. I have to top off the tank before every sail. I need a small (one gallon) gas can that doesn't get gas all over me and my outboard. The one I have requires you to unscrew the lid which has a nanny locking device on it. Then you have to pull the spout out of the can and push it through the lid then screw the lid back down dealing with the same POS ratcheting nanny latch. The lid doesn't seal to the can worth a damn so as soon as you tip it to pour, gas comes out from around the lid. While tipped, and gas running all over from the lid, you have to press another nanny interlock on the spout to get gas to come out of the spout and it's next to impossible to control the flow. I get as much gas on me, my outboard and into the lake as I do in the tank. There must be a better gas can out there.

I just bought some surecan easy pour 5 gallon cans off amazon. I really like them. I don't like the price but they work very well and I don't spill a drop of gas. Plus my wife and kids can easily use them. The cans you describe suck - I hate them

Replace spouts with this aftermarket spout. Fixes the garbage that gas cans have become now. Zero leaks with this one and when pouring you only have to unscrew the very tip of the spouts cover. This cover is also water tight so even if tipped over, no spills when its on.

All the cans mentioned will continue to lead you to misery and frustration.
I use nothing but the 5 gal racing type now.
They are made by various companies. They have handles where you need them and a long spout and a manual vent.
They are pricey but they work. They come in different colors as well.
I would post a pic of mine but to dumb to know how.
You can get them at motorcycle shops and lots of feed stores have them know. Also ATV places. On our ranches we use lots of cans...about15-20 month. Before finding these I tried every kind and they all sucked.
Maybe somebody smarter than me will know what can I am talking about and can post a pic.

I have a couple of the VP's but they don't have the molded lower side handle which to me makes all the difference when pouring when full.

This is the one I have for my lawnmower. Works very well. The funnel keeps it from spilling and the opening is controlled easily by one hand.

Does your outboard not hook up directly to an external tank?

I wonder how many hundreds of thousands of gallons of gas has been spilled on the ground and into the water on account of the environmentally friendly gas can spouts?

Great job guys.

His little 2.5 has an internal tank as it uses little gas. Most sailboat small HP outboards have internal tanks.

I've seen outboards with internal tanks with a switch that will let you use both. I guess I didn't know there were outboards that were internal only.

I googled it and there a bunch of shade tree mods from people with your same complaint. Just dont light yourself on fire.

Military plastic scepter gas cans are the way to go. I am using them illlegally I am sure but they store easily with no leaks and pour very fast. There is a company that sells parts to convert from diesel to gas.

I've heard many people say the racing cans are good. I bought two from Bucees and within 6 months both were leaking from the seam in the bottom.

The story isn't that [DeSantis] "couldn't win" the primary. The story is that an overwhelming majority of our population is heinously stupid. 50% of them vote for communists. 75% of the remaining 50% vote for Trump, who cant win. When the majority of the opposition party insists on voting for an opposition candidate who can't win, you get exactly the government you deserve. - Well Endowed Ag

Tractor Supply sells the replacement nozzles...and they fit any size gas can. I have some of those racing cans mentioned above and they are nice, but your dealing with a 5 gal jug.

I've considered getting a roll cart like one in this photo to carry fuel cans, a reel of clear vinyl hose and a battery powered pump (for marine applications).

Use these exclusively for our smaller gasoline engines at work.
