I'm sure this has been asked before. I think I've eliminated the idea of a Ranger. Mostly due to horrible reviews on other forums compared to other brands.

Any experience on the Mule vs CanAm.

No reviews on Can Am, but the new Mule Pros are great.

Kubota has also upped their game on ATV.

Just bought our third Mule. Love them. I trade them in at about 1000 hours and get a great value for the trade in. First one I did have to put a starter on the second one the only thing it needed was one battery.
Grand kids are loving the new two seater.

cal brown. .... Thought I would share this with you. I work for a Yamaha company so I can get super deals on Yamaha products. I had a Yamaha Rhino and Viking. They were extremely loud. Even put muffler kits on them. Now I have bad ears and loud sounds really bother them so I decided to shop for a new UTV that would be quiet.
So I test rode every single major brand. I mean all of them..., narrowed it down to Can Am and Mule. Bought a Can Am Lone Star defender because it was the quietest one in measured decibels and it rode really nice and seemed built great.
I have 117 hours on it. Use it daily on our ranches. It does not run worth a damn between 2500 and 4000 RPM. Surges by 800 RPM fluctuation and is annoying as hell.
It has been at three different dealers. I have had so many conversations with Can Am I can't tell you how many hours of wasted time.
They admit they do it. Rep himself told me it was a problem. They have no idea how to fix it. They offered me a brand new one and it did the same thing. One dealer dropped them due to the problem.
They are quality built, quiet and ride really well but about 75% of them have this issue and Can AM has basically washed there hands of it. They even sent me a test module to test for them and it made no difference.
Buy a Mule. Don't look back.

Currently use two mules on two separate properties. Extremely smooth rides and haven't encountered a terrain or situation that they can't drive thru. If I were to ever buy one for myself, it's going to be a mule.

I bought a low level mule to leave on a deer lease. The SX XC model, 2 seater. That thing runs like a spotted ass ape and will go anywhere. Very happy even though it ain't fancy. Other guys on my lease have can ams and rangers. The rangers are always broke. The can ams seem better but two guys on our lease that have them have problems the the air filters getting too dirty all the time but I think they found some after market filters that seem to work better.

Have an '18 and '19 Mule Pro FXT. No complaints.

They aren't the fastest if that is what you are in to, but quality and smooth riding.

Just bought a mule pro fxt ranch yesterday. I'm getting a snow plow installed on it this week but am pumped about getting to use it.

Does anyone have one of the newer mule mx mid-size 2 seaters? I like the size of this machine, but am concerned about noise level from the one cylinder engine.

+1 for a Mule. I bought a 2019 Mule Pro FXT EPS LE right before the stop sale due to the recall issues. It spent 45 days at the dealer for the recalls and a bad oil seal on the belt drive but that was more a product of the dealer than the buggy itself.

Got about 400 miles on it now and I love it. Rides great and does everything around the house I need it to. Added a Windshield and a hood scoop which I would highly recommend.

We have a '16 mule pro fxt with 12000 miles and a '18 defender lone star with 5000 miles. Neither one has seen pavement in its life besides picking them up at the dealership, as they are our work machines on the ranch. Both are good buggies, but I would pick the defender over mule.

I just went through this, I ended up with defender max HD8 and I love it. My wife and I drove both Mule and Defender. What sold me on Defender was the get up power and speed when I need it. The Canam in my opinion a way better ride than mule its just smooth and its quiet. I had conversation with 4 guys while driving my defender and I wasn't screaming. Very pleased with my Defender only draw back was I had to wait couple months for one to come in.

Anything but Polaris. My next rig will be a Mule Pro fxt. The can ams are nice but they are pretty long and the surging problems make ranch work difficult at times.

This is coming from a guy that has around 15k miles on a ranger. There hasn't been a day since I bought it that it didn't have problems and has left me stranded multiple times

I have a 2018 mule pro. Love it, runs like a tank. Had the warranty work done on it, but that's it so far besides changing the oil

Love my Mule PRO FXT, it gets me where I need to go, is fast enough for my needs, quiet and rides great on my summer tires while tooling around the neighborhood.

My only complaint with the mule is it gets hot as hell at the driver floor board.

I have a 2016 Mule Pro FXT. I love it, but I am not going to be the best person to ask for how it stands up to abuse. I only have 100 hours on mine and it still looks new. It's very smooth riding and goes everywhere I need it to go.

I bought my first UTV in July - a 2008 Kawasaki Mule Trans 4x4. It has 700 hours on it. I really like it, but I don't have anything to compare it with.

Get a hood scoop. Problem solved.

I bought a Mule Pro FXT about a month ago and am very happy with it. My buddy has the 2 row Can Am HD8 and while it's faster than mine, I don't think it's as nimble or refined as the Mule. For what I do, 45 mph top speed is plenty, and the tighter turning radius for getting around in the pineywoods is great.

Whatever you get, buy one with power steering. Possibly the best improvement they have done on UTV's since their introduction.

Polaris General for the win!!!

Been all over Colorado public lands. Have maybe 400 hours between both of them and not one problem. (except maybe that irrigation ditch)

One more vote for a Mule and get a Hood Scoop for the cab heat problem.

You didn't mention Honda Pioneer, but after having a wide variety of machines I STRONGLY perfer the Honda for 2 reasons.

1. GEARS! It isn't a CVT. The Kawasaki Teryx we had was a CVT so the faster you went the higher RPSs were - and louder it got. My Pioneer will shift, and it's a thing of beauty. I will ride for miles down gravel roads, and being able to have it shift to top gear and then just put along is a really valuable feature. I will never own a CVT again. My Teryx was a very sensitive go pedal, it was pretty tricky to keep it smooth especially when doing chores. The Honda has none of those issues

2. SOUND. The pioneer is much quieter, partially dependent on the transmission and partially beacuse it's just a quieter machine.

I'll keep buying Pioneers until they aren't as great as they are now
