Guys,

My dad has his eyes set on getting a pudelpointer either as a puppy or as a started dog.

Some of the older posts mention Bill Farris @ Cedarwood Gun Dogs. Any other recommendations as to where I can point him?

Just came across this post. I just got a Pudelpointer in April. Got mine from Rock Creek Kennels in Minnesota. I don't think they will have puppies again until 2021, but you might check. As for Farris, based on my research he is one of the top breeders. Not sure how hard it is to get one his dogs.

I just purchased one a year ago one of the best dogs I have ever owned. She came from a breeder in DFW North Texas Pudelpointers he is a great guy both of his dogs came from Bob Farris both are UT 1 dogs. If you take a look at his Facebook he has quite a few breeders he follows. Most good pudelpointer breeders have a waiting list. Good luck they are great dogs.

My dad has a great female who has passed all the field trials and will be able to breed (next year) I think.

He got his from a breeder in Colorado Springs, I think...

I have a friend who has one. I haven't hunted over him but my buddy raves. I can ping him and find out where he got his.

My uncle has one he got that is linked to cedarwood and Bill but not from there Ill have to ask him exactly

Trained it himself and is a very versatile dog. With that said started vs pup would depend on how much time you have to work with it, also how much experience you have with dogs and training. He had labs for the last 25 years and a few upland birds as a kid 40 + years ago. Hunts with my lab a bit.
