Lately we've been getting a lot of non-socialized dogs at the local dog park. They have been aggressive and starting fights. Once 2 dogs start fighting, every other dog runs up and surrounds in a pack which only further entices any aggressive dogs. What's the best tool to break up dog fights and disperse the dog pack? Amazon offers horns, sprays, and ultrasonic devices that state will help. Any experiences here?

The problem is aggressive dogs and people that can't control them... not wild dogs. When a dog shows aggression to another, most dogs will respond to protect themselves. I'm looking for an alternative to stop the aggressiveness quickly and avoid having to throat punch the aggressive dog's owner.

You may not want to do this depending on the dog, but if a dog is engaged with another dog, pick up the aggressor's back legs. They will let go of the other one immediately in most cases.

That doesn't help prevent the fights. Personally, I stopped going to dog parks. To many jackasses with their "he never does this" rottweiler or pitbull. The last time for me was when I had to fight off a rottweiler on a sprained ankle to keep him off my chocolate lab. Never been to one since.

I second the pepper spray, personally I would never go to one.

Funny now that both parents of crappy kids and owners of crappy dogs never accept responsibility anymore. I won't ever go to a dog park anymore either, too many buttholes with butthole dogs.

You could also bring a cattle prod from Tractor Supply. They run off batteries. Any dog owner that sees that will probably steer their dogs away

Dog's are just a reflection of their owners unfortunately. Mine's a loud-mouthed idiot... go figure

I've been a regular at the dog park for two years now and have seen a few dog fights, and people fights. Dog park drama happens now and then.

One suggestion I have is not bringing dog toys, balls, sticks, frisbees, antlers, ropes etc... My half bull terrier / half stafforshire terrier has been in a few scuffles. Most all involving objects.

Serious answer, an air horn will make them all scatter. I've seen them used multiple times by staff at a private dog park in Fort Worth.

It is hilarious. I need to get a video.

How about avoiding dog parks? Most of the dog trainers I have listened to say they are a bad idea for a multitude of reasons, one being the fights.

one time with a hotshot and the dog will steer himself away anytime he sees someone with a yellow stick.

I've heard this before. All I can see in my mind is two dogs fighting and some guy running around trying to get to the rear of a dog to stick a thumb up their butt. Just seems like it would be really difficult.
