So I'm getting fed up with the academy plastic crap I've used for years and I want to get a dependable feeder.

I think what I want is the all seasons 600lb feeder

My question is, is this thing going to be worth the cost of almost double the game winner crap? I've never do these last?

Those are worth quadruple what a plastic feeder is worth, at the minimum. There's several threads on here about those if you do a search.

Those plastic Academy feeders are actually worth something?

Yes they are good. With that said, owning deer feeders does require a certain amount of work. Motors, timers, solar panels, etc do go out, regardless of brand.

All Seasons has been around a long time for a reason. I have quite a few of them and other than a timer issue, that was quickly fixed, they've been basically trouble free, worth the investment. If you can't find a dealer close, give them a call and see if they can point you in the right direction, good folks!

I have an all seasons 600 pound timed protein feeder that has been solid. Never plugs from moisture. I've also have a couple of their hay feeders. All well built. I have several old Diamond feeders out of Kerville that seem to clog a lot with moisture. They are not in business anymore to my knowledge. I'll be replacing existing feeders with All Season as needed.

Well worth it IMO. I have a custom feeder but run all seasons motors and have never had any major issues

Get yourself an all seasons monolith. Have two of them and they're my favorite I've seen and used

Great feeders. Only complaint I have is the hinge tends to rust on the access panel to the cage. Definitely recommend keeping it oiled.

That's the EZ Feeder. The one OP posted is MSRP $649.

I use those feeders (the one you posted). Love it. Changed the timer out once. It's solid. Going on six years.

It is absolutely worth the cost. If I were buying all new feeders today, they would all be 600lb stand and fill ASF. Very durable construction, easy to fill and move. Having 600lbs and a built in varmint cage makes it really easy to maintain your feeders for the season.

Absolutely worth it, imo.

We have 10 of them. Love them.

My understanding is that they are made by All Seasons for Buccees. Is that not accurate?

It is, but they arent the same quality. The OP cannot get the one he posted for $400, unless he lucks into someone wanting to unload one.

I can't believe we still have barrel feeders going on 30 years old. On Time has been a great brand for timers and we probably have every brand of motor out there. I have frankensteined many of them and they all work pretty damn good to this day. Nothing wrong with old school as long as you don't mind birds getting a little off the spinner. I do like the spring operated so plate drops when spinning and closes on stop.

Have a few on our lease; very good feeders. As an alternative, I LOVE Lamco's stand-and-fill.

Too late to reply, but I love mine...3-4 seasons so far and less of a back breaker filling it a couple of times a year.

No joke. Hope you got a directional feeder for that setup.

I'm just glad we were able to convince you to drop $700 in 4 hours. Solid work OB salesmen.

I have an All Seasons feeder that is almost 20 years old. It is a 300 pounder on legs. I have had to replace the 12 volt battery in it 3 times. Solar panel still works. Runs year round.

I would recommend them to anyone.

All Seasons makes a protein feeder that is on a timer and drops it into a bin.

Has any OBer used one/have one?

Ok.

I have heard great things about the Bucees feeders though, just FYI. Probably will pick one up soon myself.

I am buying two feeders this weekend and putting them out in our new place. I am going back and forth between bucees EZ and the ASF stand and fill. Anyone have both and can compare?
giddings_ag_06
How long do you want to ignore this user?
I have both and the Buc-ee's one is definitely built cheaper. I only bought it because I needed something quick and it was convenient. I'd spend the extra money 99% of the time for the nicer one. The cheaper one is made from thinner metal and can't be pulled around if you want to move it with a utv or truck (doesn't slide very well).
STX Ag
How long do you want to ignore this user?
As a dealer who sells both, I can tell you the true ASF is going to be more durable in the long run. The ASF has a full cage around the control unit to keep varmints out, the EZ Feeder has a plate under the spinner and I could see where some varmints (namely racoons) might be able to reach the spinner plate. Other parts of the construction are a little lighter on the EZ.

If you're looking at the 600# ASF, and wherever you are buying sells them at MSRP, you are looking at a $270 price difference for a more durable feeder that holds 200# more. I think you'll be satisfied with the EZ Feeder but for us, the 600# ASF outsells it about 15-1.

FWIW.
