It's absolutely legal, though it doesn't always save you a lot (especially now) with taxes and shipping. Catch a good sale with shipping included and your in business, but I wouldn't expect to see that until after the election.

About 95% of my ammo comes from online and I am in Texas. As long as you're old enough to buy it, no issues. What Brazos said above but also check out AmmoSeek.com and sgammo.com

I am on enough email blasts that I sit and wait until a good deal (with free shipping, as mentioned above) comes through.

Bought some from BassPro a month ago.

Prices aren't great now so I'm investigating options on Reman/Reload sites.

Crazy to me that, through all this BS, practice ammo is what's hard to find. Defensive ammo hasn't really changed that much. Just bought a case of Federal HST 9mm 124 grain +P for .66 per round, delivered.

I have used cheaperthandirt.com for ammo slot. Mainly practice ammo, but was able to get some federal 124 gr as well. Everytime I have gone out there they have reasonable prices in the .20 to .30 round delivered range for 9mm. Though with my last order last night they are now limiting to 3 boxes.

Bump - for those of you in West Houston, Field & Stream in Katy is well stocked on rifle, shotgun, and 9mm ammo.

Didn't see much of .40, .380, or other handgun ammo.

Just bought a couple thousand rounds of 9mm and .45 from J&G Sales. Not one of my normal places to buy, but is was available and a reasonable cost.

Just checked them. 9mm - 5 options. cheapest is $330 per 1,000 which is 16.50 per box for ball. Plus shipping? Just asking if that is reasonable as I am due to go to a Pasadena show soon with a bunch of 9mm and .223 and don' want to get screamed at for gouging but would like to get a decent return on the investment I made last year. I would be happy with $16.

Not sure what's on there now, but I got S&B 115gr at $299.99 for a thousand rounds + shipping ($65 total for 1000 rounds of 9mm and 1000 rounds of .45). Certainly $50-75 "normal price" (even $100 bucks more incl. shjipping). But worth it IMO to have 1000 rounds in the safe, "reasonable" under the current circumstances.

FedEx and USPS deliver to my office even when stuff is addressed to the ranch and I routinely get orders of bulk ammo. My staff has stopped trying to move it and just comes to get me.

Just curious. How does your side of the business work? If you order 5000 rounds from a supplier, is it a guarantee you will get that amount in 2,4,6 weeks...?

Or will they only accept orders for what they can fulfill at the time?

For the most part, it's only what they can fulfill. Sporadically, we can preorder but it generally has to be in stock.
