We are staying a few miles down from Canyon Lake dam. Any suggestions on lures, etc?

I'd suggest a lightweight rod, 4 to 6 lb test line, and an all white rooster tail. Fish it pretty quick since the water is so clear and it will play with the light. It will attract fish out of the grass and give you the best bet to catch multiple species.

This was going to be my next question! The trout stay year round and if you're only a couple miles from the dam you may run into some nice sized fish

I grew up on the river. I was very young when they built Canyon Lake. I always go up river as far as I can go then work my way back. Small jigs and spinner baits. I have also had good luck with Shad colored Baby N.
