Appears the bike rider may have "surprised" the bear. The rider, a 60 year old man, is in critical but stable condition.

Glad I ride the trails in Houston.
Only bunny rabbits and soccer moms to attack you.

He's just lucky it was a grizzly, and not one of several posters on the outdoors board. They really hate bikers.

Side note, this was liked on the same page as the article
Quote:

  • On the afternoon of May 20, 2020, a female visitor was knocked to the ground and injured by a bison in the Old Faithful Upper Geyser Basin after approaching the animal too closely (inside 25 yards).
  • Park emergency medical providers responded to the incident immediately. She was assessed and refused transport to a medical facility.

Biker guy, just an unlucky break. The woman was an idiot.

Well this quote was spot on (from second article):

Joe Jacobs agreed. "You're not at the top of the food chain out here," he said.

Isn't this the third Grizzly attack in the northern Rockies in about two or three weeks?

As as to the Bison attack at Yellowstone, I'm thinking we need to do a yearly pool on how many touristas get attacked by Bison in the Yellowstone/Grand Teton area.

SInce we already have one and it's not even June, I would go with four this year.

And did you guys see that someone snuck into Yellowstone a couple of weeks ago when it was still closed and fell part way into a hot pot near Old Faithful? They lived but were burnt pretty badly.

People are DUMB!

Whatever happens, they definitely shouldn't allow managed hunting of Grizzlies since they are on the brink of extinction.

It's not the first and won't be the last. Think it was on Rogan where Jack Carr was saying a mountain biker in the summer took a turn and ran straight into a grizzly, but that guy lost his head

No freaking way I'd mountain bike where Griz are. (Not to mention the other big animals that could kill you)
With bear & human numbers going up in Montana, Idaho etc. bad encounters will continue to rise.
