Problem is the water is warmer earlier this year. This gives the hurricanes energy.

Definitely an early start. We have had an early storm in May/June plenty of times before, but I don't ever remember having this many this early on.

Only one other year (2016) since 2000 have we had multiple named storms before June 3, and that was with a rogue January hurricane. Half the time, we have had nothing yet. It looks to be a busy season.

Looks like we are about to have the 5th named storm of the season. If it forms it will be the earliest the Atlantic basin has recorded 5 named storms. August and September could get crazy if the Saharan dust dissipates.

Starting to look like we will have a tropical depression hitting Texas this weekend. At minimum going to get a lot of rain.

Gonzalo is the earliest 7th named storm in a season, besting Gert (July 24th) from 2005.
