That suicide cord is dangerous too if you're not paying attention. Those prongs are live if you have it plugged into the generator while it's running.
Good point, and the male-male cord likely a 'redneck engineered' extension cord.

Great info guys. Thanks for sharing. I'm going to purchase a generac 10000 this weekend. Buddy of mine is going to install the plug like y'all talked about.

Power is out right now. My 5000 watt is running the 2 ton master suite a/c. Master suite lights, kitchen lights, entertainment center plugs and internet. Just turned a/c off. To give the freezer a boost. Oncor says it will be back on at 10. We'll see.

FWIW I ran my fridge/freezer lights and fans in my house ~2K sq ft today when the power was out. Honda 2000 with a dead man cord.

Probably going to go the more legit route soon. But gotta do what you've gotta do I suppose
