Howdy, OK, so have had my BGE for more than 10+ years. Was time to replace the Draft Door. Ordered from Amazon a Dracarys Green Egg Replacement Parts Stainless Steel Draft Door Kit. Like all DIY and replacement parts it fit 98% OK, some minor forcing required. Had never noticed, until removing the old Draft Door, there is a sealant across the top edge of the door. The new door has a small space between the steel of the door and the ceramic of the BGE. Need y'alls recommendation on a good high temp sealant, saw this at ACE, Permatex Type-999 High Temperature RTV Silicone Gasket Maker 3 oz., Whaday Think??

Any high temp silicone should be good. The ceramic shouldn't get more than a couple hundred degrees

Permatex is as good as it gets, use their high temp sealant and you are good.

Used this when I applied my new Rutland gasket. Should work for you and rated for a much higher temp than the draft door will see.

Hijack this thread to ask what to do about slid hinge that won't stay open. It's a nearly 10yo egg and I'm thinking it's just had it.

If I tighten down the springs end up with a bad underbite.

Probably just need to replace. I think the entire hinge assembly is around $100.
