I need your budget!

The budget is why I am looking at baseline Savage, Ruger, and Mossberg bolt action rifles. Anything else is too much, wont be able to get any of the other stuff. But being single now and having all my kids off my payroll finally helps.

Get an AR in 5.56, leave the other calibers for later when you have your basics rounded out.

Working on getting that set-up, want to get better with the pistol before taking the class and qualifying. But also looking at the next purchase and doing the research. Pretty much narrowed down that the next three needed to be an AR of some type, a bolt action, and a shotgun from my first question. Trying to get a good idea as to what order now. While being budget conscious and staying basic for learning.

After seeing you shoot last week, you're more than capable of passing the CHL test right now.

Given the current panic nature of things, bolt action rifle is likely going to be the easiest to find/least price gouged option of the three if you don't have a specific priority in mind for what you want next.

Pretty much set on 308 in bolt, mainly because it has been around forever and I have shot it before. 270 is backup again because I have shot it before and been around forever.

Absolutely. I'd bring some ARs for you to try out but we have to cease fire at sunset.

30-06 is basically the long action version of the .308 right? I see lots of .308 variants firearm wise which is another reason I am leaning that direction. I see AR type in 308 as well as bolt, but not the variation in in platforms to shoot the 30-06. Is that primarily due to the long versus short action of the cartridge? Learning as much as I can and am getting confused with some of it. Thus why looking for basic firearms that share things like ammo and magazines.

You clearly need a shotgun.
