How many of yall have tried their soft plastics or any of their new lures?

Do many of yall watch any of their YouTube videos? Maybe their individual videos but not their combination videos?


As far as their videos I thoroughly enjoy; Lunkers videos, LFG videos, most of JonB's videos, some of Flair's videos, But I cant stand One Rod or AP both are just incredibly annoying to me. I first found Lunkers via watching Demolition Ranch and OffTheRanch, I thought he was mildly entertaining so I went to his page and watch all of his newer content and Im slowly working through some of his older stuff. Some he is over the top and high strung but that is just the way he is and I get that. Through his channel and then a random cameo on Demo I found LFG (is he a poster on here?) I love his content. Again I watch all of his newer content watch some of his family Vlog stuff as well, I love how both of these guys may be mainly fishing but mix it up with a little bit of every day life and make it entertaining..it is a true art and talent to make life entertaining to watch. (much like Demo, the all time great)

As far as the combination videos on the actual Googan squad channel it is pretty hit or miss to me. Some videos are great and some are just stupid time fillers to get out content...but I understand that so Im not going to get bent out of shape about it like some seem to.

I was reading on another forum site more fishing oriented and they all cant stand them because I guess they expect nonstop fishing videos every day or two like they are all Roland Martin or Bill Dance... those old school TV shows were 30 minutes long, had commercials and were once a week. What I do find highly entertaining is that Scott Martin is one of the major investors in Googan baits...

I have bought some of their baits but I havent fished with them yet, I have them all ready for spring break fishing and then later in the spring/summer at the inlaws lake house.

Just seemed like an interesting topic to throw out on TexAgs and see what stirs up

I have seen the Googan stuff in my local... it appears to be green and overpriced. I don't own any of their baits.

YouTube....it all started from YouTube....and overpriced is a relative term of what youre comparing to and what works...

I have $16 whopper ploppers and $10 KVD jerkbaits.

I don't have any $30 coffin-style tackle solutions (red or green...) nor will I pay $8 for soft plastics.

I am scattershooting here because I really haven't paid attention to their products. I've just noticed them out of the corner of my eye. I'm relating my opinions, which you solicited, and I admit they are not particularly well informed opinions, because I didn't see anything Googan offered that met a need I had, thus I haven't given them a try, or really even considered doing so.

I pretty much stumbled across them same as you did, I've seen quite a bit of the Demolition Ranch videos (I'm surprised we havent had a thread on here in awhile asking if the guy is a poster, a few years back we'd have one every other month as people were discovering him and his channel really shot up in popularity) and saw some of the other youtubers when they would do joint videos.

Lakefork guy is an Ag as well. Overall kind of like the Dude Perfect guys, they are a bit too much and too goofy most of the time from the few videos I've seen, so I dont really watch much of their content. I've seen them all hawking the googan stuff and figured it was probably decent fishing stuff that has a premium added to it just because of the name. I havent bought any of their stuff. Just my 2 cents.

The result of this thread is that now I'm kind of curious if I'm missing something and will no doubt scrutinize the googan section much more thoroughly next time. If I buy something, I'm holding you personally responsible.

I will note that I'm not buying any of their miscellaneous crap like stickers, key floats, silicone wristbands, etc. It annoys me that that stuff is on the fishing aisle.

Sinkos are $8 usually but none of the Googan stuff is....where ever you're shopping you should change. Googan is $5.99 at Academy

Used to watch a lot of LFG vid's. Ran into him a couple times at Gibbons back when he lived around here.

Was pretty down to earth back then.

Dude blew up in popularity, and I started enjoying his videos less and less, but it's obviously worked for him.

Never could sit through any of the other Googan fishing videos, with the rare exception of Lunker's.

One thing that I have to give them is Lunkers seems like a pretty astute business mind. They claim they wanted to make the best possible option for the baits that they are making, plastic density, salt content and the odor portion.

He did a whole line of videos a while back showing the differences between Sinkos and all of the knock offs; sink rates, motion as it dropped salt content etc so id like to think if youre going to go to those lengths on other brands you wouldnt put your own name on something of a lower quality

I agree most of the actual Googan Squad videos dont entertain me too much...I prefer them on their own pages LFG is the biggest anomaly to me some videos hes real high strung but then when its more Vlog style or behind the scenes he is very even keel which is nice.



On a side note I have way too much spare time at work.not necessarily where im not working but I have videos going on the side just to beat sitting in total silence all day so I can slog through some junk to watch good stuff occasionally and not feel like im wasting time because I just zone out those as white noise

Agreed, I mean she was a milk model! But im not going to talk about another Ags wife! I can not imagine doing Youtube and having to put up with all the thirsty dudes watching your videos....has to get incredibly old

Yeah, some days he is Justin, other days he is a Googan.

The ones I prefer now are where he is learning/trying something new.

The ones I don't like are a month later when he seems like he's pretending to be a master that's done it all his life.

I use the Bandito Bug in natural color with a black & blue 1/2 oz football jig quiet a bit. I've caught allot of fish with that set up. Have not tried any other products. Their video's are hit and miss over the top for me.

That crackin craw they make will smoke bass in the ponds we fish in. My son found em on Youtube and we use em a lot now. I think those guys are working a niche market fairly well. That's what a lot of younger companies are doing with social media these days.

They're a plague on the fishing community in my opinion. Lunkers in particular has a reputation for being a pot licking clown that used his military service and making videos talking about killing people in Iraq to have his channel blow up in popularity. If you like their click bait BS then good for you, but fishing a bunch of ponds and acting lile idiots just doesn't do it for me.

The only one in the group with fishing talent is Rackley, but his personality has changed massively compared to five or so years ago.

A plague wow. If YouTube gets my kid more interested in fishing I'd say thank you and move on. As I stated above I don't watch much of the Googan Squad videos so I can't comment there but on Lunkers and LFG own pages I've never seen them fish illegally....so I'd guess that is all just for clicks for the Googan name.

As far as the rest of what you said...basically sounds just like the dudes I read elsewhere. Can I ask what do you consider good for the fishing industry, honest question. Also what if any YouTube do you watch? Not saying YouTube is for everyone or even a great outlet but it is also a very useful source.

Watching guys fish is boring. You have to do stupid stuff to make it watchable. They figured that out.

Their Ned rig with a rattle has killed for me.

Crackin Craw makes for a killer tag on a jig. My go to.

Biggest thing I've heard from the bass fishing world is that many of the Googan hardbaits are basically direct copies of some 6th Sense molds, which stood out a good bit from the rest of the competition when they were introduced. Never compared myself, just what I've seen lots of posts about. Some even thought they must have went to the exact same factory to specifically replicate them.

But as most artificial lures, so damn expensive...
