He just turned 7 and has been shooting my 10/22 for 2 years at targets and squirrels, this year we got him shooting an AR and moved up to my son's .260 youth rifle. We hunt in north MS and dont have access to great places with good deer populations. He missed a small buck two days before but he was still upbeat and was great staying in the stand for up to 4 hrs at times the whole weekend. This doe came out with 2 others and he was able to make a great neck/body shot which dropped her in her tracks and of course that was instant excitement for both of us. lots of high 5's. He is ready for every animal out there now, the whole way home he was asking me which calibers were big enough for which animals and what not!! Not sure if I was more excited than him but it was close, we have hunted about 9 other sittings and didn't see animals each time or the situation was not good for an ethical shot for a youngster but he made it happen Sunday afternoon and I was glad because it ment we got to sleep in during the 20 degree weather we had here Monday AM !!
