Been searching for a best-bang-for-buck gun safe that is 11/12 gauge steel with 60 min fire rating and 30-50 gun capacity. Fatboy Jr 42" wide and only $100 more than a Colonial 30 at 36" wide.

Haven't looked closely at other brands. Steelwater Safes are made in China but they have a 12 gauge 60 min which is about the same as the Fatboy. Their extreme is $2300 and a better deal for 9 gauge.

BigHorn through Costco has an "executive" for $2700 but way more than I want to spend.

Just curious thoughts that others had or experience?

If $2700 is way more than you wanna spend then you're probably gonna be pretty disappointed in your options.

I have a Colonial. Good safe, fair amount of room. I would have preferred a larger model but that one fit the space I had.

Overall, Liberty makes good stuff. Buy the biggest one you can.

I have a colonial 50 and like it a lot. Believe it was around $2800 delivered and bolted to my floor. Glad I went with the 50 as we stuff it with more than just guns. All important documentation goes in it, wife's expensive purses and jewelry. I also store my ammo in it as well.

I bought mine through Moore Security in Houston. Joe sold it to me and Josh delivered it. Great family run business.

Curious, any reason for that vs the Fatboy? I'm guessing the colonial 50 being 6' is a big factor.

I just bought a Liberty 50 extreme "blackout" color scheme because they're on sale for $1999. I'm not knowledgeable enough to give you a play by play comparison between all the other options discussed, but worth taking a look at because of the price if nothing else.

Edit: Also if I'm Houston definitely go see Moore Security. I'm reserving a full endorsement until the delivery and install but the buying experience was great. $375 for delivery and install.

The only reason to pay for one of those crazy expensive safes is for fire protection or if you are hiding the family jewels. There aren't many burglars that will be able to steal or break into any safe if it is bolted to the floor.

That's a good deal. It's just a matter if I want to dedicate the space for one. The other thing is: there is no "me" moving it later at 1000 lbs. But that's ok. I shouldn't intend to move soon or often.

I got a Fatboy Jr. During the 4th of July sale they had. Really like the door organizer and the fit and finish on mine is really nice. Plenty of space

Went with the colonial for the added height.
