Excuse my ignorance, but what makes that a $4k rifle?

Call of Duty is my favorite reason listed here:

That's more expensive than the HK MR762A1 which is currently the civilian version to the HK 416 and what the Marines, Seals, Delta are using. Comes in various setups including a long range package.

Not to be completely technical here, but the MR556A1 is the civilian version of the HK 416 being that they're 5.56 chambers. The MR762A1 is in 308 and is the civilian counterpart to the HK 417. I'm thinking that's a typo? They're both piston driven though.

Ok, so a couple things here.... nit picking but makes a difference when comparing. MR762 is based on the HK417. The 416 is the 556 and yes, the HK416 is what is in use and is a badass gun but comparing the SCAR to a 416 isn't quite apples to apples. In regards to pricing, the MR762 is more expensive than the scar and heavier. MSRP on base level scar is $3560 and MSRP on the MR762 is $3999. The HK is very much a reliable, accurate gun but it is basically an Heckler Koch redesign of the AR10. Nothing wrong with that at all, but it is a heavy beast. The lightest weight configuration of it is around 8lbs whereas the Scar actually has variations that hit under seven. The civillian variants of both are a full two pounds different in weight with the HK being around 10lbs and the Scar being around 8. The Scar 17 is lightweight and great for hunting. Now, in an accuracy standpoint, I think the HK is probably a bit better there but we're getting into a situation where it may be better technically but real world "how does it work" situation is that most would not be able to notice the difference except when talking about group sizes on paper. Range toy, give me the HK. Hunting where I actually lug it around, give me the scar.

Yea was a typo on my part. Really like the HK 417 when got a chance to use it in the Marines.
