Don't know if I will carry IWB or OWB

Just know it won't be carried past 3:30...ha!

Also...thinking about carrying with red dot up top...thoughts on that?

TIA

Pancake holster, after a while you'll hardly know it's there.

You'll get a ton of opinions but personally I have a crossbreed IWB and a versa carry OWB. Like both. Belt is just one a I purchased on amazon that seemed to have good reviews and in my price range. Goodluck, have fun, and practice !

What kind of gun? I settled on Alien Gear Shapeshifter. Easy to use the same holster for my Shield, G43, and G19. Get the starter pack and expand from there depending on what guns you'll carry

Welcome to holster collecting! Where there's tons of options, but you can only really figure out what's best for you! A good belt is essential. Magpul's Tejas belt is pretty rigid. I have worn mine pretty much daily for almost 2 years and it's held up fairly well. As far as holsters, lots of options: kydex, leather, combo of the two. I have a couple ANR designs holsters that are pretty quality. I have a Vedder with is alright, but the ANR I feel has a little more thought in the design. Both of those are IWB kydex and pretty comfortable.

As far as OWB, my OWB stuff is more geared towards competition so they tend to sit a little further away from the body than you would probably like for conceal carry stuff.

Nothing wrong with going with an optic, just make sure you do your research on what you want and read some reviews for longevity of the optic and battery. Everything slide mounted will die eventually because of the forces being applied to the optic. I personally have an RMR with a 3.25 MOA dot.

Whatever holster you buy, you will buy another one., and so on.

Buy a holster with a sweat shield. You don't want that optic digging into your love handle.

I carry a G43 and sometimes a G19. Garrett makes great holsters. I've got the owb but have carried iwb. Outside is better for me. BigFoot gun belts have a steel band inside the leather and prevent the warping that usually occurs with use. The Garrett holsters are leather lined and the tension can be adjusted. Just my thoughts.

Good belt is essential no matter how you carry. I like Wilderness Tactical's 5 stitch belt with the frequent flyer buckle.

For OWB, I have a kydex pancake holster with speed ease clips from www.tacticalmeasure.com for every pistol I carry. Comfortable, great concealment, easy to put on/take off, and relatively affordable.

I rarely carry IWB anymore. When I do it's usually my Shield in a Blackhawk ARC.

OP - as others have stated, get a good carry belt, 1.5 inch wide. Made specifically for carry. You can get them with synthetic stiffeners stitched between the two layers of leather. I'd strongly suggest the beltman. Just google the beltman belts and you'll find him. I have 3. They are excellent.

Also, for many reasons consider carrying a spare mag on your opposite side. One thing it does is help balance your carry load out so the weight sits a bit more on both sides. More comfortable when you carry all day.

As for holsters lots of good recs already, you'll just have to find what you like. Check out Comp-tac too. They have great gear.

Holsters. Wow. You can take all the recommendations in the world, but until you spend the money and try them yourself, you won't know. I'd show you a picture of my holster box, but I'd have to get my wide angle lens out.

I've got tons of holsters. It never ends.

Lately I've used Alien Gear. I like the neoprene backing. It's flexible and holds the pistol closer for OWB.
I have their IWB index carry as well.

Like muzzleblast above. I've got a ton of holsters as well.

So yes. An rmr up top is doable. Just be sure your holster allows it. If thinking you may add rmr later. Get a holster already precut for it. Will save you money later

I carry a Glock 26 or a Glock 43X. My everyday holster for each is the Crossbreed Reckoning. It can be either an IWB or OWB and you only need a screwdriver to switch it.

I appendix carry and started out with it as a IWB. Since then, I found that OWB is much more comfortable and convenient, and with my shirttail out all the time, people just don't notice it.

Tier 1 for appendix. Also look at Crossbreed. A good belt is mandatory. Take some classes.

3.25 or 6.5 moa RMR? G19 MOS or did you have the slide milled?
SMM48
How long do you want to ignore this user?
Gen5 g19 mos

And I have the 3.25 rmr2.

also have the Sro in 1 moa. It won't take a drop like the rmr2 will.

I just went with 3.25 cause someone told me, do the 3.25 back when

If you have the mos. don't forget to get the backing plate and screw pack off of amazon for the rmr2 and 19 MOs. They are a tad shorter .

Daltech Force Bullhide Belts are GREAT. Thick belts that hold a lot of weight without straining you. I carry a shield with three mags and a flashlight without issue.

I have A White Hat tuckable IWB and one of their belts.

The holster is great, but many holsters are just as good..... AS LONG AS YOU HAVE A GOOD BELT!

Bradley.Kohr.II
How long do you want to ignore this user?
So, another plus 1 on the belts. Like allleather, it will hold up better if you rotate them, and wear the widest one which will fit in your pants.

Personally, I usually OWB, as it's vastly more comfortable, and I don't really worry about concealing. I usually toss a vest or something on/untuck a shirt if I go into a restaurant/store, but open carry is more comfortable.

I have a gen 4 19. Ive had some framework done but I was going to get a type 2 RMR and send the slide to Slideworks Engineering for the millwork.

I don't understand why the RMR doesn't just come with the sealing plate...
SMM48
How long do you want to ignore this user?
The rmr2 doesn't need it if the mounting surface is flat. Creates its own seal.

If the surface has a recess. Or a port hole....then yes needs it

The original rmr had a flicker issue.....sealing plates with a raised center helped keep the battery nice and tight.

With the rmr2 they changed the battery contacts so need for sealing plate isn't required....but I still used it.

They seem like good ideas - I have a vest somewhere or another that works that way, but they aren't very comfortable and the guns flop around, etc.

A shoulder holster, and any jacket, works better.

You might also consider a belly band type holster. After trying several IWB options (my favorite is my Aliengear), I switched to a ComfortTac belly band.

Pros:
- Comfortable
- Cheap
- You can easily adjust your carry position...4 o'clock, appendix, whatever
- Don't have to spend a bunch of money on stiff gun belts - can wear any regular belt (or none)
- I found it hard to find "dress" gun belts that looked right with my work clothes (without spending a fortune). No issues with belly band (see above).
- Since no belt required, can wear with athletic clothing
- When you go to the crapper in a public restroom, you can pull the band up and you don't have to worry about your weapon being visible under the stall door

Cons:
- Mine can get hot/sweaty in the summer
- Gun isn't as secure (doesn't lock in like with typical holster kydex shell). Actually, mine has an elastic tab to Velcro over the gun for added security, but I don't use it as it would interfere with a quick draw.
- Camber/tilt not adjustable (on mine, anyway)

There's probably more that I'm forgetting...others can chime in...but I've been pleased overall with the belly band style.

I carry a lot in gym shorts or sweat pants. For that reason, I love my JM4 Tactical QCC.

If I carry in regular clothes, I wear a Bigfoot gun belt and the same JM4 holster. I mainly carry a Shield but also carry a XDm 3.8 from time to time. I have the Alien Gear holsters, which are nice, I just don't like taking the time to put them on

I was thinking about something where when you took off the jacket, for example, at the office, where the firearm(s) would not be obvious.

For example, if you have to get out of the car and go into a building where firearms are prohibited, you could take off your jacket and leave it on the passenger seat with no indication that there were any handguns there at all.
