Do any of you know a breeder of rough collies? I am looking for a pup, preferably female. Thanks

I'll ask. Our lines are all sable factored, but we have blue Merle also. Any color pref? IMHO the color is the last thing that matters. Wife did message me that she might know someone with blues and tris right now.

I prefer a sable or a tri female. Really appreciate the help.

Aquin, you have a way to message me? I can get you in touch with a breeder my wife is friends with that there is an outside chance they might have something, but they're competition/show lines, so lots of times, the pups are spoken for almost before they're birthed, though.

Collies come in 2 coat varieties: rough and smooth. Rough coats look like Rev. Smooth coats are structurally identical but the coat is much shorter, slightly shorter than a GSD coat. 4 colors: sable like rev, Tri-color, Blue Merle, and uncommonly, White, plus factors of those colors. You can get smooth and rough coats in the same litter.

You are confirming my current experiences. We raised border collies for over 20 years. We had to put our last one down 12/26. He left a huge hole. I had started the search for a rough collie when it became obvious that we would not have him much longer.

I think I have called, emailed or talked to about every rough collie breeder in Texas. There really are not that many and most are show breeders. If you want a border collie or a shepherd, Texas has a ton of breeders. Every time I located a breeder the litter had multiple owners. One had 4 owners and 6 pups. Since the owners all wanted females, it was becoming obvious that my chances were slim.

This is the first time in 44 years that the little woman and I were without a dog. Hell, I might have to start talking to her. So I expanded my search to other states. Surprisingly, there are a lot of rough collie breeders out of states. We have located a little girl and will pick her up Saturday.

Once I get this one trained, I am certain that we will want another. We have always had multiple dogs. I have noted your website. I will be in touch. I appreciate your interest and help. You're a good Ag.
