Thanks for sharing that! I appreciate you taking the time to find it.

To the OP.
I've dealt with every weather type in Colorado with a front wheel drive car. 4 wd too. RWD is doable. But if I could, I'd choose not to.

even better, rent a front wheel drive car for your trip. Might save enough in gas to make the rental pay for itself. If you decide to make use of clearance and 4wd in the snow you are just going to get yourself in trouble.
This! It's best to not even tempt fate by driving on an unplowed road, especially if you're a newbie to snow. If the road is plowed, front wheel drive will do anything 4 wheel will do. If the road is ice, all bets are off and no technology will get you traction.

Need advice. Heading to Purgatory. Choices for vehicles:

1. Fwd Odyssey w 3PMSF rated new tires
2. Rwd expedition Toyo stock tires
3. '15 Fwd Pathfinder Michelin tires
4. 3500 SRW Ram 4wd w stock Transforce AT.

Which would you drive and what would you take to be legal with a bunvh of young kids? Recommended snow chains?

I've heard everyone say rent but rental rates are crazy for a 4wd suv these days from what my wife found. Any good leads?

When? Today there was hardly a spot of ice in the upper parking lot. Roads completely dry. But in general I'd go with the front wheel drive minivan

Unless there's a big storm in the forecast (don't think there is) roads should be great

Drive your Tahoe to Denver. Rent an all wheel drive Tahoe or Suburban when you get there off of Turo.com. There are lots of them. Leave your Tahoe in long term parking at the airport. All wheel or 4 wheel drive is the best way to go in the mountains during the winter.

I have a daughter that lives in Golden CO. They go snowboarding almost every weekend. She and her husband both drive all wheel drive vehicles and have never had a problem getting around. Their biggest complaint is the traffic on the weekends. I-70 in and out of Denver can get pretty congested.
So the greatest civilization is one where all citizens are equally armed and can only be persuaded, never forced. It removes force from the equation... and that's why carrying a gun is a civilized act.
