Probably need something south of Hico so we could hit the lunchtime hours.
Appreciate the suggestions.

Storm's in Lampasas. Get the Storm's Special with a cherry lime squeeze.

Wenzel's in Hamilton is pretty good. They serve food 8-6pm Monday thru Saturday. They also have a meat shop that has good stuff. Serve excellent Pork Butt BBQ on Fridays and Saturday's.

There's always Storms in Hamilton, Lampasas and Burnet.

Lampasas also has Toupsie's, and Eve's Cafe.

Burnet there's Trailblazers which has many awards chicken fried steak and stuff, and Bills Burgers and things which was Top 50 in Texas Monthly.

DDP.

It's Hico but, without a doubt, The Chop House has one one the best Chicken Fried Steaks I've ever eaten...

...and I'm an old.

Seriously, you won't go wrong there.

...and I'll second Bill's Burgers (the one in downtown Marble Falls) if you want a burger (if you don't mind driving a few more miles).

Never been a big fan of Storm's. Their burgers always seemed pretty generic to me. Flame away.

In Lampasas Brad's Burgers runs circles around Storms. But it is the definition of a joint. Drive through, no indoor seating just a couple of picnic tables or drive in stalls.

But their double double with a bag of fries is the real deal.

Edit not sure how I got angry face emoticon. Oh well.

Beat me to it. The real ones know that Brad's is where it's at in Lampasas. Storm's is good but it's always crowded and slow.

If you've got the time to sit down and eat, Toupsie's is surprisingly good just on the north side of Lampasas.

I have not been to Toupsies but it has universal good reviews. A more traditional sit down place.

I'd agree with Wenzel's. Great place. It's right off the square in Hamilton. We always try to stop in when we're passing through.

Storms is ok. Burgers are good, fries are usually soggy.

I agree with this statement! There is also a gas station (the only gas station) in Evant, Texas that has pretty good food. Burgers and stuff.

The Elk Stop. Can vouch for the burgers and the breakfast.

It really makes my day to hear that Wenzel's is still open in Hamilton. I had them make some dried sausage for me the year that they opened, but I haven't been to Hamilton in 9 years. They started with the meat market, and I always thought they did a great job with that.

Wenzels was on point. Fri is pulled pork day and that coupled with their potato salad was really good. Loaded up with some of their sausage offerings and was pleased with everything. Love places like this and will be back for sure.
