I am looking to purchase a gun safe and have heard Liberty is a pretty solid choice. It seems like at 60 min fire rating the price point is in the middle of the range they offer. The question is should I buy direct from Liberty or save a few dollars by going to Cabela's or Tractor Supply. Tractor Supply has a Liberty 1776 safe on sale right now at a good price point (a few hundred dollars less then the one I'm looking at directly from Liberty).

What's y'all a thoughts? Also should I go manual or electronic locking mechanism?

Whatever you do, get it delivered. I did and would do it again. They aren't light or easy to move.

If the safe location is going to be on an exterior wall, fire rating is not as big of a consideration. If it's in the middle of the house, then it's much more so.

Buy the biggest you can afford and have room for. A "64 gun safe" fits maybe half if you've got scoped rifles.

I have a 64 gun liberty and picked it up and had a buddy help me move into the house. Use a furniture dolly and they're not hard to maneuver. Saved about 400 bucks. But if you do get it delivered make sure it's not a curb side delivery and that they'll actually move into the location you want inside the house.

I went manual lock. Last thing I want is a short circuit or the lock mechanism die and I can't get into my safe.

I have a liberty colonial 30 with a manual lock. Been very happy. I think the manual dial is worth it. Never fails .

Go to Liberty website and sign up for their email newsletter. They run monthly specials on different models. If you can wait the one you are looking at will probably be in sale. I saved five or six hundred when I bought directly from them.
