Lightweight comfortable Safety toe shoes?

is there such a thing as a lightweight, comfortable safety toe shoe? It doesn't need to be a heavy duty boot and it doesn't need to be steel toe(composite/alloy is ok). I sometimes have to walk as much as 12 miles in a day for work and my company has decided we should be wearing safety toe footwear everywhere we go. I bought a pair of "lightweight" keen boots on amazon but they were heavy and didn't fit right so I sent them back. I had some Cat steel toes before and they were heavy and uncomfortable. Any suggestions?

Red Wing safety shoes. I sometimes forget to take them off before I go home.

Go somewhere like Basspro/Cabelas or Academy. They will have a few different midweight hikers with composite toes. Try them on until you find the one that fits best and feels comfortable. We can all give you a list of which ones we love and hate, but until they are on your feet, you won't know how they feel to you.

My last two pairs of RedWings have had the soles detach from the shoe after only a few years of use.

well that's part of the problem. I've tried all of those places and don't like anything. Maybe I'm just being picky but after walking 5+ miles in my old Cat shoes I could literally barely walk my feet hurt so bad.

I got a pair of the sketchers slip on safety shoes with the memory foam inserts. I can stand in them all day.

I got some from Academy that are composite toe and approved for O&G and refinery work.

The name is Tarmac (I guess for airport usage as well?), and think that Wolverine makes them.

They are a hiking boot above the ankle style and they are heavier then tennis shoes but noting compared to full-on steel toe boots.

I've got a pair of Redwing Shoes with a Vibram sole and the Boa tightening system like they have on some golf shoes now. Been wearing them 14 hours a day for 8 days straight out of every two weeks. 8 & 6 schedule. They are awesome.

I am about to order a new pair in the next month or so, they have finally started to come apart at the seams a little after three years and my socks get a little wet if I walk through a few inches of water. If it's any higher I break out the mucks.

Also, are the bottom of your feet hurting or are your legs hurting from walking?

No matter the weight of the shoe, if you feel like you don't have enough support, get new insoles tailored to how you walk/stand and something that laces up tight or otherwise is very secure to the top of your foot. Some will be more comfortable than others, but none of them are going to be like pillows as-is.

If it's your legs, get in better shape or get lighter shoes.

That's unfortunate. My '04 Redwings are about wore out in every way except physically coming apart. They are still Rock solid in that regard.
