I highly recommend the Citori CXS, it is a great gun and comes with invector plus briley extended chokes and the triple trigger system to adjust pull length. I shoot a Browning Citori 625 with 28" barrels and briley extended chokes. I love the gun and will some day buy a dedicated 30" browning citori (or blaser) for my sporting clay addiction.

Go shoulder them and buy the one that fits you best. The Browning O/U's fit me much better off the shelf than the Berettas do.

I'm just the opposite, Brownings feel too tall and don't sight as good as Berettas. ....so as you said, shoulder them, or better yet shoot them!

Does it have to be at Cabela's?

No, but I live near one and will likely purchase later this week, for use this weekend.

Gotcha. I'm partial to over under s for sporting clays, as being able to customize two chilled can be very advantageous. That being said, the super sport is a phenomenal semi

No smart ass, I shoot clays about 2 to 3 times a year and have borrowed a gun in the past. Figured would buy one this year.

You have anything productive to add or did you just want to post something because you are trying to impress people on a public forum?

I am the same as AG81, Beretta fits me better. I would also add the Beretta A400 to your list and give them all a try.

Whoa... seriously... There are generally four budgets that come in for a shotgun: $500 or less, $1000 or less, $2000 or less, and "Just whatever the hell piques my interest and to hell with the price tag." I would love the majority to my customers to fall into the last but that's not realistic, haha. The price tag he put out there is very realistic for someone who is into firearms, in the area that they want a better than good quality gun, and in a place in life where they can pay for what they want. And truth be told, 2K doesn't really put you into the "impress everyone" price tag. Then we're talking the stuff that I can't even get.

My favorite gun for Clays is my Beretta A400 Xcel w/ Kick-Off system. Here it is with my SuperSport and my son's A400 Xtreme Plus. If you're going to hunt with it at all, the Xtreme Plus is a crazy good gun for the $$.

I love the look of OU's, went thru a couple of Berettas and shooting a friends brownings. You can have my benelli super sport when you pry it from my cold dead hands.

Being able to shoulder all of the guns is very critical and will weed out several brands that just don't fit. I wouldn't worry too much about a gun being too long if they are, as you can always have the stock fitted to you. For instance I can shoot a Benelli but for the life of me a Beretta will not shoulder, i have to drop my head and search for the bead on a Beretta. The Browning citori shoulders and falls right in the groove, which is why I shoot a citori as my sporting clay and uplands gun. I shoots sporting clays normally once a month, and can honestly say its truly a great sport that all you need is a gun that fits and that you shoot well.

When you get in the $1000-$2000 range on shotguns, to me, quality is consistent across all brands there. I agree that you are looking at a fit and finish choice. Which one fits you best?

The most important thing is going to be fit and I definitely recommend shouldering some guns before you purchase. I shoot an A400 and love it. I've been in the market for a Benelli Super Sport as a clays guns recently. I like my over under but have been much more accurate with my semi-auto. Over-unders are beautiful and have a classic look. Most over-unders out of the box are going to need to customization to get you fitted and shooting properly. Just some things to consider after the purchase.

Just got done holding a bunch of guns. I'm thinking about going with this A5. I had A browning pump action growing up so maybe that's why I was drawn to it

It's all about the fit and feel of brand and gun type. I was looking at semi auto vs O/U and semi auto felt weird to me. If feels like it fails to eject or cycle every time I shoot one. O/U felt much better to me. Then there was the issue of which OU. It was between beretta silver pigeon and Browning citori. The beretta did not fit at all and I could hit anything with it. The Browning however fit me perfectly and so went with that. If you get a chance shoot different guns so you see what feels right to you

The A5 is a classic. I have a wicked wings edition in right now. Gorgeous guns and there's an old school appeal to them. Can't go wrong with one.

I just bought a 32" Beretta Xcel with kickoff like Fido's. I shot with it yesterday and it is fantastic. I had a sporadic loading issue to work out but I'm quite confident that's user error and that I need to investigate.

I am now leaning toward the Montefeltro Silver. Too many choices!

I have a 20ga Montefeltro. Great gun, but, I prefer the raised rib of the SuperSport/Cordoba for Sporting Clays personally. If you notice my Beretta Xcel, you'll see that it has a raised rib like the Benelli. I had to buy a Parallel Target and then swap stocks to get that setup.

Just something to think about.
