This guy is an Aggie I know. I am thinking about putting one of these on my Christmas list. What do y'all think of it? Has anyone seen or tried one on, in person? I need to reach out to him and see when he will be around. He likes quality stuff, so I am sure it is a good product.

I'd hate to tell you how much I paid for my Filson bird bag

Looks alright, but doesn't look like it does anything more than the $30 one from Cabela's I've had for several seasons.

I have an Orvis vest that was mucho mas more expensive than $89.

This. And for $30 more you can get a filson vest that will last decades

My parents gave me a Filson bird bag 10-years ago, outside of some dried up blood and feathers. The bag looks almost new, it is hands down a bag that will last several decades.

I have a Filson belt and an old Filson vest....like both for different reasons but the vest is nice when you have a lot of ammo and water and birds....hangs on the shoulders.

You guys are nuts. Vests are way too hot for the 110 degree opener. Get a solid 3 bag belt and be done with it. Also, lots of Off to fight the chiggs, and shorts or quick dry pants FTW.

That's not a bad design. If you have a best it needs to not be full cloth material back and side. Like that one a belt with suspenders is the best there is. Dove season is hot and you need least amount of material possible.

This, you beat me to it. I hung up the vest for dove hunts a long time ago and use the three bag belt.

I have a coyote co leather pro hunter belt. Its amazing and I've hunted with it for years. Got it at the hunters extravaganza years ago. Has held up incredibly well and was worth every penny. However, once you have fifteen dove or a couple pheasants it starts to become uncomfortable. I just purchased a filson vest and plan to try it out next weekend. I really appreciate quality built stuff that lasts a lifetime. Good luck.

Filson bird bags are basically belts with shoulder straps so you don't have to haul ammo and a limit of birds on your waist.

Wait. Dudes are asking other dudes about whether a dove vest is good or not? It's a dove vest...

Just looking for opinions and discussion is all. I have a 3 bag belt that has been upgraded because I couldn't find anything I liked better. I have long arms, so putting a bird in a vest is really difficult for me. I tried the Filson on at the store, and didn't like it much. I have always preferred the bag system, as I like to rotate the bird pouch onto my right hip, and carry the right hand shell pouch up in front of my hip for ease when reloading.

I upgraded the cheap nylon web on my 3 bag I had had for 10 years, with a 511 tactical web in olive, so that helps. Then, when I was 30 lbs heavier last dove season, I added camo suspenders from Wal Mart to it. It looks goofy now, with all mixes of camo, but it is comfortable and functional as hell. That old 3 bag belt from Academy that was ripstop nylon, is about 2x the quality of anything Academy sells now.

This vest system seems to be very close to it. I am going to look at it in person, next time I am down in POC.

I leave my shells in the bed of the truck, shoot, run around like a mad man, almost get shot, lose half the birds, get a ticket from the warden, drink too much, get dehydrated, eat a greasy burger, get drunk again, shoot 3 more birds in the afternoon, then call it a day.

I use old web gear from the military, works well enough and was sorta free.

I see the winking face, but I'm with queso. If you have an open spot it sounds like a hell of a good time!

I wrote that in the middle of a long day of drinking yesterday and I'm ashamed to say it wasn't all that far from the truth. We did end up with a five man limit and had a hell of a time! If I had a place to do it I'd invite you all and show you how to make a true ass of yourself!
