So it's that time of year and I want to get some new pants. I've got some camo jjeans and the like for hunting but looking for something lightweight but can handle walking through cut sunflower fields. What are y'all liking these days?

Shorts. Don't think I've ever worn pants dove hunting. That would be absolutely miserable.

You have to buy all of your gear from Filson. If you don't, you aren't a real hunter.

To add some serious content, I usually wear any various outdoor/hiking shorts and either snake boots, 6" boots, or sneakers. Also, a tan or camo Columbia shirt beats the hell out of a t-shirt these days when it's 105 on the opener.

Jeans, Chippewa boots, camo sleeve shirt, beer, and

Mojo doves.

Orange headwear for the kiddos, if any are running around and fetching doves.

Tan or camo shorts. It's always too damn hot for long pants.

If you're not wearing Sitka or Kuiu, you will not be able to limit out.

Filson, GREAT stuff, love mine, if I am hunting pheasants in Kansas in winter, even their light weight stuff is too much here, for me. Dove hunting always starts when it feels like you are hunting on the surface of the sun!!! Go for the absolutely LIGHTEST weight stuff you can buy, try Orvis!

Have a pair of Kryptek Valhalla pants, light weight and breathable.

I have a few pair of those khaki and tan lightweight hiking pants that work well. Those kinds that have zippers on the thigh to convert to shorts. Not expensive. Work well to keep lower legs from getting scratched up. Not as miserable as jeans.

Lol posted that expecting some quality ob responses and y'all didn't disappoint. No way I'm wearing shorts my legs would get destroyed. My camo jeans are my usual but swamp ass is legit after you've been walking around in the heat. Which reminds me to make sure I pack the gold bond

Frisco ... this did not go exactly as planned some funny stuff. In my experience, the best shooters gear up the least bc they know they will not be out there that long and they drop the birds in easy to find spots. These are the first to limit out. They typically wear muted shorts, short sleeve camo or khaki shirt and a hiking shoe.

Even though its hot i prefer to cover up my legs and arms with lightweight pants and shirts in tan or light green. Im using a Lt weight kuhl hiking pant (with some stretch) and a Simms lt wt fishing shirt up top. I like the full coverage for sun, bug and brush protection. I also like a slip on boot ... no laces ... to keep the stickers in the field. You will definitely be harder to spot by dove if you are in camo.

Bruh. Walking around? This is dove hunting. The birds come to you. Get yo' friends. Get yo' beer. Sit your ass down under a mesquite tree and ***** about the heat until they show up. Also make sure you get there at 3:15 pm when it's 118 in the shade in case any early flyers show up. Try to remain calm when your buddies shoot at mockingbirds 90 yards away.

God I can't wait for the opener.

I wear breathable camo pants from BPS about a decade ago and a camo long sleeve fishing style shirt from academy, wide brim hat of some sort and hiking boots. I hve gone in khaki shorts and camo cotton t shirts and had just as much success. Personally, I wear all the gear because somebody bought it for me and when else am I gonna use it? As you get older and acquire more of the essential stuff, family has to reach a bit further down the rabbit hole during Christmas and birthday time.

The camo long sleeve fishing shirt is pretty sweet though. Highly recommend it.

What do we wear if we're not as good a shot as you and can't drop them into the bed of our pickups?

I picked up a couple of pairs of Browning's Black Label Tactical pants. They're light weight and made of a ripstop material so they're pretty durable.... and they're tacticool.

North face convertibles. Super light with drawstring and flash dry, breathable material. Just zip off pants legs if too hot. I hate ticks and mosquitoes so I like these at daylight soaked in off to start out with.

Cassius ... that's not me. Those are the sharp shooters ive hunted with over the years. I wear full coverage so that i can bush whack into brush, cactus and mesquite to find all i drop and get back to the truck with a limit.

If you need gear advice to go dove hunting, you're overthinking it.

ScentLok pants. Dove have a very keen sense of smell.

Whatever you do make sure that you get the self-cooling pants with autowick feature or else the doves will detect your presence using the heat sensing organs atop their rostrum. I can't tell you how much they have helped me on my hunts. I now limit out on approximately 530% more of my excursions.

Was going to start a new thread but since this one is similar, I'll piggyback on it.

Any suggestions for beer drinking pants?
