...and I'm still waiting for you to post pictures from your Peacock Bass trip to Manaus.
One last thing for anyone that might think of going:
We messed around for about two years trying to find someone we knew that had been, we couldn't. We talked to multiple travel agents and the first question would be, "Where is Seychelles?"
We didn't know whether to go to Mahe, Praslin (pronounced Pralin) or La Digue (La Dik)
For awhile we were honed in on a small house on Praslin. We read several articles that said, "Don't rent a house planning to save money by preparing your own meals etc because you will find needed supplies in short supply and they will be expensive." Nearly all the produce( fruit...vegetables) are grown in Seychelles and sold in the market along with fish. We saw on our tours a couple of very small grocery stores but were told that there was a large one in Mahi. Our breakfast was complimentary at the Four Seasons and it was unbelievable. Other than that we ate our other meal about 3:00 most of the time. We went into Victoria a couple of nights.
The different villas that we looked at all had a espresso machine with free tea and coffee along with a mini fridge. No way to do grilled cheese.
I think we could have found something on Praslin but to get there you have to fly from Mahe by helicopter or small plane or use the ferry which is a one hour trip. One of the side trips we wanted to do was the Vallee de Mai. We did and it was well worth the day we spent to and from Praslin. One of a kind place.
https://en.seyvillas.com/guide/islands/praslin/vallee-de-maiWe got up that morning to a big rain storm with lots of lightning. I decided to leave my big camera. We boarded the "people" ferry along with at least another 100+ residents who use it for work as well as tourists and their families. The sun popped out and we headed to the sun deck and got two seats on the starboard side and next to last row. We headed out and the wind picked up behind us as did the roll and waves. We were soaked before we could figure out how a $1.59 Dollar Store rain coat works. The back row headed up front for stand up space.
It go rougher and that big cat driver kept the peddle to the metal. Within five minutes three gloved crew members showed up with barf bags.....hands were raised. One lady headed for the bathroom and never came out. The second couldn't beat her but did toss the dome lid off a big trash can and never came up. Her husband patted her on the back for an hour. I would guess 30 minutes into the trip there were 25 people barfing and the crew was hauling lots of full barf bags to another trash can somewhere else. The ferry had a lot of struggling walkers on the unload. We did not participate but fresh air and silence was special.
LaDigue has the best beaches. Approximately 1000 residents, 50 cars and a double butt load of bicycles. That's your rough it island and the best fishing or so I was told.
