Will be amazing how big that fish will be in 20 years of story telling.
It's funny because when he was telling the story to my mom a few days ago and she asked how big it was, he extended his arms out as far as they would go and said "He was this big!" In all reality, he wasn't that far off given his size compared to the fish. We held it up prior to throwing it back and it went from his toes to his nose. Good times that we will both always remember!
Unfortunately, my inlaws are selling the place and closing on it tomorrow. We've had a ton of great memories there over the past 17-18 years! My first deer, Riley's first fish and deer hunt, fires on the back porch while watching Aggie sports, A&M graduation parties for both my wife and I, domino games until 2-3am, crawfish boils, riding around the river bottom shooting coons and pigs, and plenty of bottles/pitchers of beer/margaritas. I'd be lying if I didn't say that I had a few tears roll down my cheek when we drove off for the last time. It was an incredible place! The good news is that they are looking for something a little smaller (75-100 acres) with a pond, but a lot less maintenance. The deer hunting isn't a big deal, as we have a large lease in South Texas, but it is nice having something just an hour away from the house so that we can get away for a bit. The duck hunting was ridiculous too. Not sure I will ever have a better place to hunt than that.
