Who has one? I was just listening to a friend rave about how smooth it operates and how accurate it is. How is the recoil?

Tikkas are known for their smooth bolt actions.

The 6.5 is an easy recoiling round. I'd put it somewhere north of the 243, but less than 270. At least that's how it feels to me.

I have the CTR. Great gun. Super accurate. Pretty comfy with a suppressor hanging off the end. With suppressor the recoil is nil. Like a 22-250

I have one. Put it in a KRG bravo and love it.

Very accurate. Slow barrel but that is a known deal.

Prefer over a .308?

I have tikka in 308 and love it. Suppressed with a Limbsaver it's like shooting an .223
From the ballistics and anecdotal stories I hear folks prefer 6.5 over 308

I'd say that description is pretty dang accurate on recoil. It's a little more than a .243 but not much. Way less than my .270.

Disclaimer - my 6.5 creedmoor is a 9lb Bergara not a Tikka, so recoil is likely considerably less. I have shot it in the Ruger American and it still fits in that range.

I have one in Tikka 3X Lite - Leupole 3.5-10 x 50mm VXIII

It consistently shoots 1.5" groups with Hornady 129 grain Hornady whitetails (unacceptable)
it consistently shoots 0.5" groups with Hornady 143 Precision Hunters (zero complaints as this is my "spare rifle")

I don't even bother hand loading it.

Trigger is good for a factory trigger.
Stock is typical Tupperware garbage.
Action is butter smooth
Recoil is about the same as 150s in a 308.

Didn't expect to like the gun as I got it in trade.

I really like it. I'm considering getting it a real stock.

False.

The Tikka molded stock is quite nice.

There's a lot of bad, hollow sounding, flexible factory stocks that do have an impact on a gun's accuracy. The Ruger American is a great example. If you put too much pressure on the forearm, you can easily change POI.

Not so with the Tikka.

Do a quick Google search on Tikka stocks, specifically Tikka stock upgrades. You will find story after story of folks paying money for something new, but no change in accuracy.

You can pay $700 more for a Manners, $650 for a McMillan, $350 for a Grayboe, $250 for a Bell and Carlson...but only if you want a different stock for a mold with more vehicle to the grip or more rise to the cheek mold, or some different colors, or just like to blow money to have something different. If so, then yes, change the stock. But IMO, there's no reason to change for accuracy or durability reasons.

Just another reason to like the Tikka - they come with a rigid but light stock from the factory, and a good recoil pad. Years ago, most factory plastic stocks were garbage. Many still are. The Tikkas are not in the category.

True. Compared to Ruger Predator the factory stock is great. I agree that I have read of no change in accuracy with replacing but would not know. Never shot it in factory. Really like the Bravo, just to throw money away!! Plus a ten dollar trigger spring and man is it a sweet rifle for the cost. Will replace the barrell one day but other than it being slow it shoots great. In fact the cheaper American Gunner is more consistent out of it. Maybe not grouping as good at 100 as the match stuff but at 600 it is better due to less change in velocity. Like mine. Really want to 22 cal version!!!

My Tikka 6.5 creedmoor is my favorite rifle. Smoothest bolt of all my rifles too. The recoil is relatively light. I have no complaints on anything.

Go for it

As far as accuracy goes. On my birthday last month me and my best friend picked up some old hog skulls that were in the pasture. They were young wild hogs my dad shot. We placed these skulls up and from 180 yards out I was putting 6.5 rounds into them. You can also YouTube the Tikka 6.5 creedmoor.

The rifle and caliber are very accurate

Been debating between this and a 6.5 Ruger Precision.

Thoughts?

Both will be great, but 2 very different guns for different applications.

What's your primary use? Hunting or bench plinking?

I've taken the RPR to the deee stand. It works just fine for sitting in boxes or tripods. But it's heavy and long.

Pretty well convinced myself on a 6.5CM. Debating between a T3x or a Bergara Ridge. Application would be shooting from my CJ or blind

Not a Tikka, and I know nothing about Thompson Center rifles, but I saw this on Grabagun today and figured I'd share it in case someone was interested in an inexpensive option. Gets good reviews FWIW.

I am fixing to get one off this as well. I have a Ruger PSR and as stated above ....long and heavy. Looking at the Tikki or the Bargara Ridge as well, but now am also giving a hard look at the Browning Hell Canyon X bolt.

I bought the Savage Stealth in 6.5 CM. let me dad shoot it the other day. first to ever see or hold the rifle and never shot a chassis rifle before. He also doesn't go to the range but maybe 2-3 times a year. He did a 0.6 MOA 3 shot group at 100 yd with it.

I put 15 rounds in the center until I punched out the paper. If you are looking to save some money on the rifle so you can spend some more on the glass or accessories you can't go wrong with the Savage.

I picked this up not long ago but have yet to put a round into it. They look and feel awesome. The action is pretty smooth

Did you pay around $1,400?

I went through eyeguy and did a combo rifle and scope package. Not sure what the breakdown was between the two. Scope is a Riton 5-25x56. I added a harris bipod, low profile rings, a precision armament muzzle break, and swapped out the buttstock for a Magpul PRS Gen 3. I have a 20 MOA rail but haven't attached it yet and will probably get a monopod for the rear as well.

with factory buttstock

I also bought a few metal mags for it. The polymer one that comes with it says it will hold 10 and it does but the first two rounds are hard to feed so I call it an 8 rd. The metal ones will hold 12 but I call them 10rd.

Short term hunting, but would like to get into long range shooting eventually too (sport, knowledge, pushing myself, etc.).

So looks like the Tikka might be the answer short term, then the RPR for a bench gun down the road.
