I've got a Vanguard Endeavor HD 20-60x82 angled spotting scope I'd like to sell. This scope was purchased new and has been kept with it's cover on during use and storage. It's never been hunting. I've only used it at my home shooting range. I recently traded a rifle for a Swarovski ATX and I don't need two spotters.

$315 shipped.

Can anyone speak to how this scope stacks up to say a Vortex Diamondback? I have endeavor bino's and a crappy spotting scope for the range, but looking for a scope for hunting/back country stuff... how do you think it would hold up to that or be for image quality?

I bought the spotter based on this review:

It has served me well. I've never looked through a Vortex spotter.

I'll take it.... some cows got in my barn an smashed my old one. I guess this was a sign to replace it. I'll send email later today

Email sent. BTW... for those looking for really good binoculars, the Endeavor HD,s I think are really good. My GF bought a pair and I've looked through them along side my Zeiss 10X 42 under all conditions and they stack up amazingly well. Hoping this spotter has same quality

OP, overall you are happy with this spotting scope? I am actually looking to pick it up here shortly to use on a Colorado mule deer hunt above tree line.

Sold to DOG XO 84. Hopefully he can chime in shortly on quality as well.

mneisch, I think it's a really good spotter in it's price range. I'm not sure I would want to carry the 82 on a treeline hunt. But you might. It's really not that bulky and shedding weight in places other than optics is usually a better idea. I think if you could pick up a 65 for around the price I just sold this 82, you would be very happy. The 65 likely loses some viewing time at dawn and dusk, but I'm sure it would perform well for judging mid-morning and midday bedded bucks prior to making a stalk. Unless you want to spend >$1000, this Vanguard is my rec.

Thanks for the quick response and advice. I do probably like the idea of the 65 a little better. Less weight to carry and don't lose a whole lot of magnification at the top range. I see they are currently going for $329 and include a free tripod via rebate from Vanguard.

I definitely recommend taking advantage of the free tripod rebate. When I originally purchased the 82A, Vanguard offered that same rebate. The Abeo 243 tripod comes with a PH-113V tripod head. The 243 tripod is a nice stout aluminum tripod that I have taken on many western hunts to use with my binoculars. I still use the PH-113V head with my new Slik 624cf.

While you're at it, go ahead and buy a Vanguard QS-66 adapter plate (or two) and an Outdoorsman Tripod Adapter and binocular stud and you'll be in business!
