Will be headed down to Corpus in a couple of weeks and we would like to have a decent seafood dinner. Does Corpus have any restaurants over the water or any good seafood spots that are family friendly???

My wife & kids like to go to Snoopys and Docs when we are there. They're right next to each other. Both on the water. Snoopys is cash only but they have an ATM

Railroad Brewing was pretty good last time I was there, though it has been 5 or so years (maybe 4?). Water Street Oyster Bar was solid as well, but it has also been a long time since I have been there. Landry's is in the marina, you won't go wrong with them IMO.

Down town you've got Water Street Oyster Bar (and sushi) is excellent. But not really ON the water. For that you may need to do Harrisons Landing or Landrys (Joe's crabshack is there too but I hate them). Those are on the T and L heads over Corpus Christi Bay.

If you want to go to Padre Island to overlook the Laguna- Doc's and Snoopy's is my go to. Snoopy's is more the local hole in the wall type joint thats cash only as mentioned before and a lot of fried food- order and go up to get your food when you're called. Super casual atmosphere. Doc's is still casual but has a full bar and a normal menu and waitstaff.

Michel May's is at Bob Hall Pier- food is ok. Full Bar. Overlooking the surf.

Railroad is good. They are a brewpub too and the beer is better than the food. Water street used to be the top of the list down there. Had a poor experience last visit, ut every previous trip was good. The Yardarm is supposed to be great, but haven't visited it myself yet. The Blue Clove is good. Crappy area, but good food. Black Diamond is really good, but a long way from downtown. Snoopys amd Docs are a great view. Never been impressed with the food at either place, but man, what a view. If you are in Ingleside, Redfish Willies in Aransas Pass is quite good. That should get you started.

Ohhh this is worth a mention too....the BEST food I've had is from Blue Cove... it is not near the water and in a sketchy neighborhood. But the chef used to work at the Yacht Club and the seafood is absolutely delicious.

edit; person above beat me about Blue Cove... and yes Yard Arm is pretty decent and overlooking Corpus Christi Bay as well. about 5-10min. drive from downtown, so still on water, a little removed from hustle and bustle.

Had a customer there who loved Yardarm. Always ended up there.

Many locals hit up Catfish Charlie's on SPID for things like fish, shrimp, and frog legs. Usually have to wait for a table. Very good!

Its Blue Clove, not cove. And it's very good. As is Yardarm but I wouldn't call it family friendly.

Just south of rockport is Paradise Key. It may be more what OP is looking for. Or Mickey's by Aransas Pass.

Blue Clove just announced they are moving to new location on Everhart but not sure of time frame.
Yardarm is my personal fave.

Go to the island. Costa Sur Wok & Ceviche. Don't be turned off by the strip mall, you will not be disappointed.

you must not have been there in years as they do accept credit cards

Grew up down there and if I was picking somewhere for a trip it would be Water Street Oyster Bar (mentioned above). Haven't been in 3-4 years but it was always good.

For fried food I love Charlotte Plummer's in Rockport. It is on the water and I do believe it survived the hurricane. Some nostalgia involved there but for fried seafood we always loved it.

Snoopy's is ass my dude
Doc's is solid
Scuttlebutts is actually where the Islanders go and is better than both, but, no water view.
Island Time is the best seafood on the Island, but, it's pricey and a little dressier

Water Street for in town

Blue Cove

Just don't go after dark and don't let the look scare you away. It's worth it.

One of th best seafood places in the Corpus area is in Odem. Place is called Railroad Seafood House. Odem is about 15-20 minutes West -northwest of Corpus. Chef used to be at Kings Inn and it is outstanding

As others have said, Snoopys is not cash only anymore (it's been a couple of years). Their fried drum is great, and if your kids don't care for seafood the Snoopy burger is solid. Scoopys next door for ice cream. On the water

Scuttlebutts is where we would drink on college breaks, food is not bad though.

Docs: worked there in high school. Food is good, but if the wind isn't blowing (rare but it does happen) it's not a very pleasant place to try and enjoy a meal. On the water

Laguna Reef: If fried seafood is what you're looking for, this is a great option. Also try the shrimp alfredo and you can feed the entire family. On the Bluff side of the Laguna, on the water.

Catfish Charlies: best hush puppies in town, but imo food is average. In town, not on the water

Black Diamond: In the Bluff, good food for the price, but pretty sure closed on Mondays. Not on the water

Dragonfly on north padre island is great. Not on the water but food is outstanding.

Yardarm is always good but the restaurant is really crowded. Too many tables in there.

Head over to Port Aransas... farther I know much way more options.. Virginias is right on the water and was rebuilt. Their Mahi is so effing good. Water Street downtown is good but no water view for ya.

The best place for fish in Port Aransas is Kody's. The only "catch" is you have to bring the fish.
