What are the statistics for sightings east of i35?

Friend posted an old article about a cat being killed in Rockdale, but just the dead cat in the back of a pickup without any faces of people.

Just the description of the photo alone tells me it's a fake.

Ursus has weighed in on here multiple times that anything east of 35 is unlikely and the reported "confirmed" sightings are suspect, at best. I'm sure he can clarify.

This is far west from 35.

That's likely a young female mountain lion most likely. Not that unusual, but rare for most to actually see in transit. It happens.

Saw this on Facebook but was skeptical so decided to come here. I was still skeptical until I followed the link to that video. Definitely legit! I bet the neighbors over there are in full panic mode on NextDoor.

Just think if someone took that Ring video and paired it with a certain Hall and Oates song and then posted it on Facebook/NextDoor. ....

Read the post I am responding too... it specifically asks about sightings east of 35, not the cat in the original post.

Yes. This one seems legit. But the Rockdale cat is east of I35, so was asking about that.

Here is the link a picture that I think is fake....

I'm surprised Ursus hasn't weighed in on this thread yet. But maybe he's busy doing stuff actually outdoors instead of living vicariously through this board like I do.

He might be enjoying the polar vortex and seeing how far south polar bears might come down....

I heard a police report of a mountain lion spotted in the northern edge of Breckenridge, Texas a couple of days ago. I thought it was just another mistaken sighting, but I am not so sure after watching that video.

I hunted for several years in Leander where what is now called the Lakeline Blvd extension. Was less than a mile from Crystal Falls golf course. I heard a mountain lion one time while deer hunting and once you've heard it, is unmistakable again. Week later stopped by the game warden and while being checked asked him about it. He said the biologist for the Balcones Canyonlands a mile or so away knew of 5 different cats they had game cam pics of on the property (this was around 2011)..

I was in a regional biologists meeting all day.

I haven't followed up on this on in any manner.

I have had to update my east of 35 a bit. There was a single conformed sighting in District 6 (deep East Texas) last year, but I haven't pressed for where. No confirmed lions in D5 in the last 20 years still holds (ate lunch with that District Leader today).
