I live in a rural neighborhood that has lots of deer roaming through the area, and there is large pasture acreage surrounding the neighborhood. I leave this morning, and come back home two hours later to find a disemboweled deer on the side of my driveway. Could being hit by a vehicle cause a split of the stomach? Any other thoughts or ideas as to what could have caused the damage?

I hit a little doe with a f350 doing about 50 mph. That blew the abdomen open.

Looking at the hair on the body side that is up kinda looks like it was moved (drug itself or was drug) through damp/wet grass?

Coulda gotten hit and done that itself.

If dogs woulda gotten to it they woulda eaten the guts I would think.

Had a deer impale itself on an old metal bar in the brush on boundary of our yard. (Austin/Westlake). It was awful as she was alive and struggling to get loose cutting more and more.
Cops came and were just about to put her down when she frees herself and two fawns fall out of her belly.
One actually made it. Doe ran off and presumably bleed out.
Terrible to watch her struggle.

I'm not sure I could sit there and wait for the Authorities to show up to dispatch the deer. You did it by the book though and I understand why.
