A professional fisherman got a big surprise as he tried to launch his boat at Lake Sam Rayburn to practice for a fishing tournament this past weekend.

Eric Jackson, of Rock Island, TN, told 12News his two-year-old Dalmatian, Bodi, stepped on the gear shift switch, putting the 38-foot RV in reverse.

Just last night I was watching a couple of boat ramp fail videos and wondering how often this really happens, and HOW it happens when most vehicles these days are automatics and there are usually at least 2 people involved.

I know a lot of 2WD trucks can slide down a slick ramp and start to float up in the rear initially, which eliminates any traction and usually the ability to use the e-brake, but the front brakes SHOULD keep it from going too far into the water.

Even so, most of the time if the truck or SUV is in park or in gear and the brake is on, it can't just roll back into the water. Someone almost literally has to put it in reverse then keep going way way too far.

So much fail in that video:
- Who wants a dalmation?
- Why do people take their dogs freakin' everywhere?
- Why do people insist on taking videos in moments like that?
- Why do people STILL shoot in vertical format?

The only redeeming element is all those good folks rushing to help.

More likely though, they just wanted to get the ramp cleared so they could launch themselves.

That was Eric Jackson- founder of Jackson Kayaks. The incident happened two weeks ago during practice for the FLW tour event on Sam Rayburn. I saw his RV at Castles Boykin ramp the day before it happened. His dogs travel with him, and one just happened to jump on the driver seat while he launched his boat, the dog stepped on the push button Allison transmission and sent the RV into the lake.

YoloTek was filming a promo video with some of their products when it happened, that is why it is all on video. The people rushing to help were YoloTek employees and some of his competitors, not people trying to "clear the ramp."

He didn't do too well in the tournament...

Just imagine how 1/6 would've played out if DC hadn't had such strict gun laws.
