That's awesome!

It is pretty interesting to think about the increase in populations of birds (and animals in general) in my lifetime. (1970's to now)

White-wing doves were rare to non-existent in Central Texas, now seem to be as common as mourning doves.
Yeah. My Grandpa took me dove hunting when I was about 10. So that was 1964. I shot my first dove in the air that day.

It was a whitewing!

That was a big no-no back then.

So now we also have the Eurasian Collared Doves taking over some areas.

I've seen Eurasian Collared Doves near Missoula, MT and Ambergris Caye, Belize this year.

Caught this one while on our trip to Alaska a few years ago. It landed on the boulder just a few feet away from us. It looked like it was collecting nesting material. Only time I've gotten a close up look at one.

Ravens & Caracara overlap in almost all of Mexico, so I don't think there is so much competition that one drives out the other.

Btw, we are blessed (cursed?) in Gonzales County, the area apparently has the highest concentration of Caracaras in the United States & no one can figure out why. The Belmont/Ottine area is apparently the epicenter.

No ***** I've seen groups of at least 50 eating pecans down in the river bottom. And yes, they do eat pecans, just like crows.

I have tons of Caracara at my place in Leesville just south of Belmont.

Wave when you drive by. Maybe I'll finally put my OB sticker on my truck to see how many Texaggers frequent Diamond A.

I've got ravens on game cam eating leftover Halloween pumpkins that we've set out for deer and pigs and whatnot.

And we have caracaras in the area too but they aren't on camera eating the veggies. Carrion is probably more palatable to them.
