Mostly bow hunted out of blinds and a ladder stand but I need something more portable to start hunting public land. I plan hiking in more than a mile to get away from the crowds so what would y'all recommend?

A hang on requires climbing sticks but probably? Is more flexible with the tree you can use? Which setup would y'all recommend and why? Thanks

Assuming the terrain has enough suitable trees, go with a super light weight climber. I wouldn't do the lock on unless the trees require it or you plan to leave it in place.

Either way, know the regs for the area you plan to hunt. It's against the law in a lot of places to use any type of tree stand that has "teeth" that bite into the tree.

Try a kite tree saddle

All depends on the landscape & animal activity you have to work with.

Unless you find a arrow straight tree located right at the crossroads of some major trails, then a hang on + lone wolf sticks is your best bet. If no decent trees at all, then try a popup blind.

Where are you? I'd second FirefightAg. Have you looked into saddle hunting? I'd look at the New Tribe Aero Hunters.

Never heard of tree saddle - will check it out. Thanks

Is there a back up safety strap with the saddle?
Looks like you are depending on a single rope and knot.
I don't think I could be comfortable without a redundant safety feature
