Saw this post on FB about a red wolf or red wolf mix (they assume) that was trapped. Anybody heard about it? Ursus?

I guess anything is possible but that looks like a typical yote to me.

Looks like a yote to me as well. Chester Moore, who writes for Texas Fish & Game among quite a few other publications, has been researching red wolf hybrid coyotes around SETX for a while now. Had a trail cam pic of one a few years ago that looked way more wolf than the pics in OP

At 60 pounds that is not a typical coyote. Unless that article is just another piece of FB propaganda

From my understanding of the topic, it's very likely he has some mix but it's more than likely vast majority coyote.

As far as the weight goes, it says "estimated" at 60lb. Similar to all those 400lb hogs people kill and see running around the woods, huh?

The full post says that they weighed the animal, took measurements, and detailed photos but only provided that info to USFWS. For the moment they are withholding that info for the public.

So then that Facebook post isn't accurate. I'm not questioning you, just curious. At the end it says it sprung the trap, but if they did in fact take it out and weigh it I wouldn't see them putting it back in the trap.

The post doesn't say they took it out...I'm not saying this post is legit or that I believe it,..only relaying what the post says. I guess they could have weighed it inside the trap.

"Anywhere from 3% to 70 or 80% coyote?"

So that wolf is more coyote than Elizabeth Warren is Indian?

Nothing that an arsenic-injected wiener won't take care of.
