I was getting 3400 out of the 130s and 3250 from the 140s.BoneAg said:
How much do the shells average to by loading/reloading your own?
I only have a 270 WSM and I've tossed around the idea of getting into reloading. Mainly from the standpoint of exploring 110 grain rounds at 3400+ fps, and maybe later exploring a 140 grain round.

The WSM cartridges were a solution in search of a problem.

.300 mags or 7 mags if you want a magnum.
I like H414, i use it in my .243 as well. It's a flattened ball powder that meters really well and burns clean. It's actually on the slower end of the burn rate, but to me it feels like it has a snappier recoil than some others.NRD09 said:
Awesome thank you. That load sounds good enough for anybody! Never tried h414, will have to watch for a can.
Nw80 i love rl22, use it in my 280, figured the wsm might run out of capacity before the 22 could hit its stride, but nosler recommends it for 200s and up. Hmmm...

For somewhat hard to find and expensive rounds like the .270 WSM, you'll save a lot. Once you find your load and assuming you already have brass.BoneAg said:

The biggest benefit is finding that load combination that shoots lights out from your gun, and usually it's some combination you can't find on a shelf. Plus, reloading is fun (for me anyway) and a good way to shut out the world and make something I will enjoy later.
