I have posted about these before. But this is the first year that I have oranges on all four of them.

The first is the Miho, which I have had about 8 years and it is planted in an unprotected area. I thought it was dead a couple of times, but it is pretty tough. You can see it gets abused.

Next is the Cito (or Seto) which I have had about 5 years. We have trouble keeping this one watered, hence the small oranges. It is planted on the east side of the house.

About three years ago I planted these next two on the East side of the house. First is the Orange Frost.

And then the Arctic Frost

So the last two are pretty new, hence the less oranges, and we have eaten quite a few from each tree. The taste test? ..... they all taste the same to me, and they are very good.

Medina County, just west of San Antonio.

These 4 Satsumas are moderately cold hardy. Generally they can produce if they are protected from the North/West wind.

The Mijo and Cito were the first developed. They are grafted onto another rootstock.

The Arctic Frost and the Orange Frost are true all the way through the roots. So if they freeze to the ground, the sprouts will still be good stock. If the Mijo or Cito freeze, any sprouts from those roots will probably be of the Sour Orange variety.

Congrats on the fruit! I tried growing oranges in BCS, clearly didn't have the right variety.

I've missed your brush control posts. You still running that PTO driven sprayer? Dad's finally replacing the tractor and I want to get one for him. Sendero for mesquite and remedy/reclaim for cedar/juniper and pear.

Yep, had somewhat of a short season last summer. I got 90% of what I wanted to get done in July sometime, and spent the remainder of the summer just cleaning up areas with a hand sprayer. I switched to working on an old fenceline full of mesquite trees..... working it with a chainsaw and cut-stump method. I think I made it about 700 yards before the rain, real job, and chainsaw maintenance slowed me down to a stop.
