Seems like good deal. Wanted opinions before I pull the trigger on buying this.

I suggest asking them about magazine compatibility, 224 valk requires the same magazine as the 6.8spc if I remember correctly.

That is correct.

I would stay away from them. Their quality is terrible and the accuracy is even worse.

I've read the opposite of this. Have you owned one?

There's only one company that I've really flat out told people to stay away from in the AR world... and that's Bear Creek. BCA has a bad history in the industry going back to when they were Moore Machine. Specifically, their barrels seem to have zero quality control. When I first opened, I bought a bunch of their stuff and that was a big mistake on my end. I should have known that 18" Fluted Hbar Stainless 223wylde barrels for $80 were too good to be true, but I didn't do my research well and tried them out. Out of the original 50 barrels I ordered four years ago, I still have about 12 or 13. They had accuracy problems, chamber issues and gas ports that were cut too small. These barrels are also why Radical had such a bad name for their "4MOA rifles" at first.

Now, that being said, for $420, I can see these being a deal to buy and then ditch the barrel and put a new barrel on. I'm not 100% sure, but I don't think they make their own BCGs and pretty sure someone else makes their receivers so $420 for the rest of the gun is a pretty decent deal. Yank the barrel, throw on a BA barrel and you probably have a pretty decent rifle out of the deal.

That being said, I do have a $700 valkyrie that we'll be putting up for BF as long as I can get mags in. If I can't we'll just put them up without mags for like $680 or so. A little more, but the barrel and other parts will be better.

I have one in 6.5 Grendel and it's not something I would purchase again. I've since switched to BA from eyeguy. I bought it because it was purely for hunting and didn't care much about accuracy, but since then we've opened up longer shooting lanes at our lease and it no longer was worth it.

I'd be interested in that Valkyrie.

I built a "truck gun" 6.8SPC using an "inexpensive" (cheap?) BCA barrel, and it's no match rifle, but easily does 1.5" groups using the white box Federal 90 grain rounds. When I get around to reload for that particular rifle, I expect better results.

Their reputation is certainly less than stellar, but maybe they have cleaned up their issues? They have been on a binge lately, pricing items ala Palmetto State Armory...

This was why I was curious, I read reviews online that made it seem as if kinks had been worked out.

It's hard to not be tempted to give one of their barrels a try, at these prices..

The barrel is one of those places you really shouldn't skimp on an AR build, IMO.

There's a lot of other places you can cut some corners and be fine, but a crappy barrel will make you regret it every time you go to the range.

Their barrels definitely aren't top notch, but their side charging uppers and BCGs are good to go.

Ok fellas, I've given up on Bear Creek after research. I've also opened my options to include a 6.5 Grendel or the Valkyrie. I work with multiple guys who build cheaper AR's in their spare time, and wanted to get opinions on the best receiver sets and barrels to buy to build an AR. I'd like a nice AR, but am not trying to break the bank. Looking for the most bang for the buck while being a solid to great platform. Any insight is appreciated.

Aero uppers and lowers. Ballistic Advantage barrels.

Ballistic Advantage barrel and Aero upper and lower. I think I'm running a Radical 6.5 BCG. Also have Spikes Tactical stuff but Aero fit tighter.

Aero Precision is sold out of the lower/uppers I like. Any other recommendations fellas?

So you want a complete upper? If so, contact Eyeguy (i.e. Justin at Texian Firearms in Houston)

I'm a big fan of Rock River Arms uppers (stripped and complete).
