I've read the opposite of this. Have you owned one?
There's only one company that I've really flat out told people to stay away from in the AR world... and that's Bear Creek. BCA has a bad history in the industry going back to when they were Moore Machine. Specifically, their barrels seem to have zero quality control. When I first opened, I bought a bunch of their stuff and that was a big mistake on my end. I should have known that 18" Fluted Hbar Stainless 223wylde barrels for $80 were too good to be true, but I didn't do my research well and tried them out. Out of the original 50 barrels I ordered four years ago, I still have about 12 or 13. They had accuracy problems, chamber issues and gas ports that were cut too small. These barrels are also why Radical had such a bad name for their "4MOA rifles" at first.
Now, that being said, for $420, I can see these being a deal to buy and then ditch the barrel and put a new barrel on. I'm not 100% sure, but I don't think they make their own BCGs and pretty sure someone else makes their receivers so $420 for the rest of the gun is a pretty decent deal. Yank the barrel, throw on a BA barrel and you probably have a pretty decent rifle out of the deal.
That being said, I do have a $700 valkyrie that we'll be putting up for BF as long as I can get mags in. If I can't we'll just put them up without mags for like $680 or so. A little more, but the barrel and other parts will be better.
