Trying to decide wether to go through Houston to hit the Katy Buc-ees for corn or just get it in Luling.

Last year Katy was $1.50 less per bag early in the season.

Anyone bought corn at Katy or Luling this week?

If you're on I-10, the Seguin HEB has corn for $5.99. Everyday, all season.

Plus that HEB has an awesome BBQ joint inside...why couldn't they have built this when I lived there!!!?

Is corn tax exempt? I've bought it at tsc before and have been charged tax ever time. I've been buying it at a feed store lately and they haven't charged tax.

Last year D&D in Seguin sold corn pretty cheap...they went up though. HEB is the place to buy for now.

Perhaps I'm a victim of location, but I've never seen corn in a clear sack. Or am I missing the joke?

Me either and I have bought corn from many places. Usually for convenience

I've been buying corn for feeders for 40 plus years as a hunter. Bought it in tons of places. Never once seen it in a clear bag.

Only corn in a clear bag I know of is when I buy 3 ears at HEB for corn on the cob.

you have never bought corn in a transparent bag?? weird. thats all I buy.

That makes me feel better, I thought we may be missing a new bagging trend in Poth. Though I know some locals who are pretty up to date on that sort of stuff. (Poth/L&E inside joke)

Seriously. Who sells 50 lb bags of feed corn in a baggie? The bags are made of poly threads that are woven. I have never seen clear poly weave ever. White, brown, colored from a dye pattern. But not ever clear.

Last weekend, I needed to buy 20 bags of deer corn on the way to the lease. I usually stop at the Bucees in Luling for corn and other hunting stuff, but since I was already stopped at Bucees in Katy to get gas and food, when I was inside paying I went ahead and asked the check-out gal to add 20 bags. Figured it would save me some time to not have to stop again in another couple of hours.

After I had already paid, I asked the gal where to go pick up the corn at. She told me the corn was located at the front of the store next to the main entrance; there wasn't anywhere for me to drive right next to the pallet of corn to load up my truck.

I was able to park in a spot pretty close to the corn, but I then had to load 20 bags of deer corn by myself from the edge of the store to my truck 30 feet away.
I carried them 2 bags at a time until the nice Bucees man offered to help by letting me use his dinky corn hauler cart; it ended up taking me more time to haul 8 bags with the corn hauler l than if I had just kept carrying them 2 at a time.

Keep in mind that all of this was while trying to navigate little kids running in to get jerky and icee's and people who were in a hurry to get to the cleanest bathrooms in Texas.

By the time I loaded the 20th bag I was wore plum out.

So, next time I need deer corn I'm getting it in Luling.

one of the weirdest things I have seen on this board... As I am sure yall think my post is weird too obviously...lol

But yeah...I cant believe yall have never bought corn where at least the sides are transparent. and I cant believe you have never bought old corn that has those white rotten clumps in it.

I will post a pic of a bag of corn I buy next week.

D&D in Seguin is a drive thru and they load it for ya. Typically in and out in minutes. You can even call ahead and they will have the ticket ready for you when you get there. I like the drive thru factor and its pretty fast. The proce did go up a quarter or so per bag before the season started.

The drive through convenience is nice. The kids who load it are helpful. That being said, the staff inside the store are about as personable and friendly as an alfalfa bale.

D&D is also the reason the corn at HEB is that price.

The last time I bought 20 bags at Buc-ees they had me go to the loading dock and they forked the pallet into my truck. The only work I did was showing receipt and opening tailgate. I did have to unload it though...

Most of the HEB's have 40# bags and Buc-ees are 50# clear bag. This time of year I only use scented corn bought from local farm store and also get my M-G deer protein there.

I think Buccees in Katy had corn cheap 3.99 last year because of their opening. Got spoiled. Now you may as well get it at the most convenient location as it is the same price. Academy had 5.49.

If Academy is $5.49, that's high, considering it's a 40 pound bag.
