Why is daylight savings still around?

Because people are resistant to change.
Standard time is what we need to get rid of. Hate that it gets dark at 5-5:30 now
This, so many people believe that we are currently in daylight savings time right now. It truly stinks getting home at 6pm and it's pitch dark already.Cstrickland05 said:

Agree. I hate that it gets dark so early. Especially when it comes time to start feeding cattle hay.
I usually have to leave work early to unroll round bales before it gets dark.

Why is the standard/imperial system still around? The people who invented it have ditched it. What are we waiting for?
So I can make sure my headlights work as good on the drive home as they did on the drive in.
Daylight saving time is an unnecessary burden on the mind and body.
Depending on your latitude it can start getting dark at 4:30 in the afternoon.
It's unnecessarily disruptive on a number of fronts that the reasons for it don't justify.

Why is that?
In central Texas, the current sunset is approximately 6:43 pm. When we switch back to standard time next week, it will be at 5:43 pm (not accounting for the shortening days).

You mean standard time? Dst is how we get extra sunlight after work in the summer
