My brother and I were up in Colorado GMU 55 for elk first rifle season this week and came across this track.
Obviously there are a bunch of mountain lions up there, but given the size of the track and how it wasn't sunk into the snow very deep I was wondering if there was a chance that it could be a lynx. I know they're really rare in the lower 48, so it'd be pretty cool if that's what we came across. Specifically we were up north of Gothic/Crested Butte near Schofield Pass.
There was also a smaller set alongside this one, so whatever it was it's definitely a mature animal with at least one offspring. Sorry for the questionable photo quality and for not getting one of the smaller track. We were in a hurry to get up to a herd at 11,000 ft and didn't have time to take a bunch of pics.
