Anyone ever wonder about scent control with them?

I use them all the time and they're incredible, I'm just always curious about how the deer react to them. I usually wait till I hear the first buzz or bite and then I get it out. Usually put it right beneath me.

Never used in a hunting application before. But it DOES work. Ive watched mosquitos fly into my tent, turn around, and haul butt out of there. Made the difference between sanity and going to a very dark place on my backcountry fishing trip this summer.

I know of mountain hunters that use them and they don't seem to have a problem.

May be different than me sitting in my tree stand with a bow, but I believe they make a scent control option

Yes it works, and I have about 20 deer in the freezer to show that it doesn't bother them. Use with confidence.

The thermacells work really well. When its windy it won't work well, but usually mosquitos have trouble flying as well. I've been in a couple situations where the wind was just enough to blow the scent away, but not enough to keep the mosquitos from flying. Rare situation, but it can happen.

I've turned one on inside a deer blind and sat and watched the mosquitoes fly around outside the window for the entire hunt and never once try and come it. Of course they just waited until we were walking from the blind to the truck to sneak attack us!

Look at Ars Mat12 for a cheaper electric option.

Never used one during deer season, but use it the last four weeks of turkey season every time i go. Works amazingly. We hang it in the stroller when we take our little girl when we go "hiking".

They work very well!

Make sure if you are in a deer stand you have ample air circulation. They will make you light headed and your mouth numb after long periods of exposure.

To echo everyone else... I have seen no ill effects when using a Thermacell in the tree stand. It's a must have for me, and I turn it on before I even start my walk in so it's warmed up and working when I sit down.

I used one for the first time this morning and didn't feel like it worked at all. Lights on, I see some smoke coming out of it but got eaten up.

Yes. It absolutely works. Have used them wading in marshes in Galveston (some of the worst mosquitos you can imagine), and all the way up to 10,000 foot in the mountians. Have never sat a deer blind with one, so I don't know if it impacts deer. But it does chase bugs away

I ended up getting covered up in deer this evening at the same time the mosquitos decided to invade my stand. I'm not lying when I say it sounded like a faint yell at a big game at Kyle Field. These things were thick. It makes a little click when you turn it on so I just decided to tough it out until the deer backed off a little bit. It didn't take 5 minutes before I stopped getting bit.

I usually just put it under my chair. Tonight I let it heat up and waved it around a little but then set it in my lap. It's always worked for me.

I hunt predominantly in the river bottom and have used my thermacell even when setting on the ground. No negative effect on the deer. You can get different scent refills such as dirt.

Buy two or three, we use them in the woods, at home, working in the yard...worth every penny.

Deer can and will smell them. Whether they spook or not depends on the deer. Lots don't. Some do.

Always use the wind to your advantage. If they smell the thermocell...they smell you.
