Dogs eat sprinkler heads

Put in a sprinkler system this spring and my two dogs have torn and chewed up no less than 18 sprinkler heads. Although they are almost flush with the grass, they still get their teeth around them and destroy them at an impressive rate.
The dogs are both 18 months old and have plenty of chew toys and get a fair amount of exercise. I've put hot sauce all over the sprinklers to discourage them, but to no avail.
Any other tricks or advice on how to get them to stop? Thanks!

Shock collar

Each time you catch them trying it, zap them

Fix the heads, watch them return to chew them again, and then turn on the sprinkler system. Soak 'em in the face every time they chew the heads, and maybe they'll make the connection they're better off not chewing them.

I guess I should add I've sat out there for several hours straight on multiple occasions and they never do it when I'm around.....
I've tried turning it on in their face. They think it's a game. Sprinklers are on at night anyways when they are inside in their crate.

Cayenne pepper sprinkled a full one foot radius around each head and a shock collar.

About ten years ago I installed a sprinkler system for a nice woman with three dogs. Two weeks later I get a call to replace all the heads & valve box covers... chewed to pieces. Two weeks after that she called me out to cap the system off as the dogs had done it again. She said she'd call me back out when the dogs were dead to re-install. So I got that goin' for me which is nice.

My chewed up door frame from our lab puppy now doesn't seem so bad. No offense to you and I completely understand the frustration but this thread made me laugh bc good lord I've dealt with all kinds of issues from having labs and a Golden over the years but never this. Good luck- if it was me, my husband would be at stroke level over it.

My dad had this same issue one 1-2 heads. He ended up pouring concrete around the body of the head so the dog couldn't dig up the head anymore. Fixed his issue. But with18 heads, that might not be the best option!

Get rid of the dogs they create more problems than they are worth Cost/benefit analysis

We had a dog that enjoyed trying to drink from the stream out of the sprinkler.
