How long do you want to ignore this user?
I'm looking for a nice, heavy duty dog kennel that will ride good on the back of my truck and hold up for a long time. I want something a little thicker so I don't have to worry about it cracking or getting messed up with a little abuse. Right now I've got it narrowed down to two brands: Owens and Gunner Kennels. The Gunner Kennels are my favorite, but awful expensive. We have a Cabela's plastic kennel we used in the house to crate train, but the first one we got had a broken corner and they are just too thin for my comfort level to travel with. It'll be for a Golden Retriever that's about 55 pounds (and just about maxed out at that).

Any other recs?

Those don't look too bad. Any idea what they cost?

Did you eliminate rough tough?

No. I may need to look into them again. I think Cabela's sells them actually and I've got some points saved up I could use. Thanks

I'm probably gonna get a Ruff Tuff as my next kennel purchase unless I can get an insane deal on the Gunner.

I have rough tough and really like it. Get the tie down kit and you're good to go.

My brother in law knows the guy that owns Gunner Kennels. He's a good dude.

I've got two ruff-tuff - solid box with a few options/add ons.

the Gunnar's are nice but price wise prefer ruff-tuff. My local Cabelas used to carry them at one point and got one on sale the first I ordered direct

The pointer was $950 and the retriever was $1,200. All aluminum and all welded. We have a few for the Polaris that slide under a raised bench.

Thanks for all the input everyone. Simply due to the price (and ability to use my Cabela's points), the Ruff Tough is probably what I'm going with. $250 vs $750+ is just hard to overlook. The only negative reviews of the RT were dogs destroying the doors, which won't be a problem with my dog.

Don't think you can go wrong. I've never had an issue with the doors - interesting to hear that issue

Good choice. Get a wetdog mat to go with it. Either from rufftough or through wetdog

I bought a Gunnar off Craigslist NIB for $275 (it didn't fall off the truck), so you might check there. I saw a couple used ones for $200 before that, just were sold before I was ready to pull the trigger.

Check out Boss Game Systems dog boxes. They are double wall insulated fiberglass just like their stands. Hold up well and help maintain proper Temps for your dog.

I've been using one for 10 years and wouldn't go back to a plastic crate or aluminum dog box for anything.
