At the same price point are the leupold BX-4 a better buy than the diamondbacks. I see them on Op for <$500. The 10x50s
The BX-4 is certainly a much better bino than the Diamondbacks, which should be expected given that they cost twice as much. At any rate, I didn't mention the BX-4 because they are well over the OP's budget.
Sorry to hijack. I was just at Cabela's that evening looking. I just realized I got crossed up and it was the Vipers that were the same price. Oops.

Right after I bought my BX-4s a friend of mine bought the 10x42 Vipers. Gonna try to compare them side by side this weekend hopefully.

Some of the Vortex models that were previously made in Japan are now being made in China. If the Vipers you mention are made in Japan, then the two binos should compare quite evenly, as they were most likely made in the same Kamakura factory. The BX-4 might have a slight edge in performance due to newer coatings, but I would bet that the difference is small. I hope you come back here to let us know what you think about the two after you compare them.

I will give a review whenever we get the chance to compare them. I just texted my friend, he said his Vipers show they were made in China.
